Navigating the waters with Black Pond Marine Surveyors turned out to be a challenging and unsatisfactory journey, leaving me with reservations and a palpable sense of frustration. It is imperative to approach this company with caution, especially if your vessel doesn't fall into the category of a brand new, multi-million-dollar investment. My engagement with Black Pond Marine Surveyors unveiled a disconcerting trend of questionable survey observations. Numerous issues flagged as faults were debunked as inaccuracies upon scrutiny by knowledgeable tradesmen. This inconsistency raised serious concerns regarding the thoroughness and accuracy of their assessments. Attempting to address and rectify these disparities was met with resistance and an unprofessional demeanour. When seeking clarification and proposing amendments to the report, I encountered a defensive and bullying attitude from the surveyors. This not only impeded the resolution process but also left me feeling unheard and dissatisfied. A particularly troubling aspect was the presence of contradictory statements within the report itself. Such inconsistencies cast doubt on the reliability of the surveyors' observations and raise questions about the overall quality of their work. Alarm bells began to ring as they conducted the out-of-water hull inspection. Black Pond's certified surveyor, in an attempt to assess the hull's integrity, was utilizing a rubber mallet. I pointed out that this was an inappropriate tool and suggested using a hammer. Honestly! In conclusion, my experience with Black Pond Marine Surveyors fell significantly short of satisfaction. The lack of transparency, coupled with defensive behaviour when questioned, underscores a concerning absence of professionalism. After this very frustrating experience, I engaged the services of a more reputable marine surveyor who we worked closely with to rectify a couple of very minor modifications. If you're contemplating Black Pond’s services, especially for vessels that don't fit the high-end category, it is advisable to exercise caution and explore alternative options within the marine surveying industry.
