Really nice lunch here today! Friendly service that was attentive but not pushy and which felt genuinely friendly.
Food was delicious, homely and warming and there were lots of interesting Hungarian options. Especially enjoyed the cake (a strudel with lemon cottage cheese and raisin filling)!
The space is cosy with lots of natural light and good music which is not too loud. Would definitely visit again, thank you for a lovely experience! ?
We have been to Deck a few times and loved it every time.
The food is delicious, and freshly made. When it comes out you definitely get food envy for a moment and then you taste your dish and the envy goes away! As I have been with my husband and father in law we tried each others food and it is all so tasty.
The staff are super friendly and helpful when ordering dishes you don't know.
Our 1 yo son loves going too for the food and the company as he loves the ladies there and looking around and people watching from the high chair.
I would highly recommend, and will be going back!

We went for lunch. There were quite a few people which is great for the business, especially after the regretful closure of the Hungarian Langos place in Bedminster.. but I felt the tables were pretty squeezed into one another. The staff was very nice and friendly. I felt that the food was slightly mediocre and the portions seemed a bit small for the price... the matcha tea was not properly made either. Two different dishes looked and tasted almost identical, and with the cake feeling a bit dry/old, I was tempted to only give 3 stars, but the spicy Hungarian pepper sauce they served with the main was so good we literally purchased 3 jars of it immediately after our lunch haha!

Visited to have brunch. Really good selection of breakfast options with a Hungarian twist. Great portion sizes and the food was very tasty. The juices were a highlight, very fresh and healthy

Great little gem on Gloucester Road - does cafe breakfasts/brunches, fresh cakes/pastries and also would highly recommend all the Hungarian specials. I try something new each time I come and am never disappointed.
Staff are amazing and food is delicious. I believe its 2-4-1 Thursdays as well!

I'm not too familiar with Hungarian food, probably 'Goulash' is the only dish I'd recognise so I was interested to see what the menu looked like at The Deck.
We stood outside and read the Breakfast Menu taped to the window and we were happy with the options available, so we decided to go in.
Inside it was warm and slightly damp, the windows were steamed up and covered in condensation. The Cafe isn't huge, but they had a selection of rustic wooden tables and chairs that allowed couples or larger crowds of maybe 6-8 to eat together but it was a bit tight and not the place for secret or intimate conversations.
There were some high stools in the window where (on another day) a lone customers could sit and watch the pedestrian traffic on the pavement outside.
We sat at a table just inside the door and were soon given a menu which offered some interesting options to the Full English and I decided on the Meaty Burrito (£7.75) with a Hot Chocolate (£2.55) whilst my wife went for the Hungarian Omelette (£6.95) and a Flat White Coffee (£2.75).
The Meat Burrito was a little disappointing. It had very little meat in it. It was advertised as Scrambled egg with Bacon, Chorizo, red Onion and Spinach in a wrap with Cheese and Avocado.
I imagined a wrap full of Bacon and Spicy Sausage but It was in fact a 'Scrambled Egg Wrap,' there was very little meat included.
It's a pity really as this could have been a great option.
If it had been served with a few slices of Bacon or a couple of Sausages, maybe some Hash Browns and a few baked beans it would have been a great breakfast but it was a bit frugal. I enjoyed it but it was nowhere near substantial enough to satisfy the appetite of the Fat-boys breakfast club.
My wife enjoyed her choice but again it was 'Scrambled Egg' rather than an Omelette as we know it.
Service was friendly and efficient though we weren't very demanding.
There were some rather nice looking cakes and pastries available but we decided to resist the temptation and head out into the bitter cold wind of storm Arwen.
