Habitat has the best selection of kitchen items! I can always find what I'm looking for here. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the store is well organized. Love their new location in the Dimond Center!
The employee was extremely nice and helpful helping me find things, but at the same time was treating me like I couldn’t afford to spend a lot of money. When she knew nothing about me or my friend. For one she started ringing up my stuff before I was done shopping and reminding me on how much I was already up to. Like your up to $200. I told her repeatedly that I have money. The thing is I shouldn’t have to tell someone I have money. I was leaning on getting the more expensive pot, but it seemed like she didn’t want me to buy it. When it came to checking out. She assumed I was using credit which I found just as disrespectful. I spent $399.34 there so I think I deserved respect. I don’t know if this played a part in it, but I have a obvious disability and my friend is black. I have to say I have never been treated like that in any store before and I probably won’t return to be quite honest..

Nice people and selection is really nice! Very clean with amazing products. I love my progressive vegetable chop. The only reason I gave them a three star is because of prices. You can get some of the exact same things online cheaper, even with shipping! The thing is that in Alaska things are already more spendy here. I don't need extra mark ups on items. That was a real bummer when I was pricing items as gifts on comparison. You can pay for convenience if you want, but in these times I won't.

Nice store, well stocked and laid out. Friendly staff. It's one of those stores where you don't think you need anything when you walk in, and then...

My daughter was treated rudely today when she asked the clerk to wear her mask dangling from her face. According to her that’s her idea of complying w the mask mandate. Hardly. She also confronted my daughter w a smart aleck ‘what are you, a cop?’ Really?
I have supported this store for years but not anymore. And judging by how it’s more of an outpost anymore I wouldn’t think deliberately turning away business would be anyone’s idea of a successful business model. Have you made that much money throughout the pandemic you can afford to scoff at this crisis?

Staff was completely unattentive and did not care. When I finally asked for help the lady refused to pull her mask up despite the mandate. She literally said "what are you, a cop?" When I said I would feel more comfortable if she were wearing her mask properly.
The last time I was in this store the gentleman at the counter went into some long anti-vax saying about how it was a hoax and how it's just the flu.
I've been coming to Habitat housewares as one of my first stops when I need cooking gear they were over in the University Center Mall but honestly the place is dead to me now. It's become clear that with the move they no longer care about customer satisfaction or customer health and safety and that's a real disappointment.

I had another great experience! Of course, I love this store: the recommendations staff makes in person are great and the curated collection is fantastic and sure to feature many of the “Best of...” found in all my favorite cooking articles, shows and reviews. I was further blessed today to experience great follow-up customer service when a Oxo kitchen scale I bought from here stopped working. Jasmine walked me through the next steps of what I could do and also let me know she would keep an eye/ear on the situation if this is a product issue. Wow! It reinforced the relationship and the value of this store as my gourmet kitchen shop of choice!

Redoing my review due to owner responding with personal information. Please do not post names and items purchased. I will not be back due to rude customer service and wasting my time.
Went to return gifts. Rep didn't know what she was doing so she had to call someone. Refused to return the items after making me wait about 20 minutes. Said items were not purchased there, even though one tag said Habitat on it and I know for a fact it was purchased there. Two reps now at the front, both very rude. Awful customer service. I will buy online and encourage others to do the same rather than shop here. Waste of my time and I already hate going to the mall

I was told to leave the store. I asked why and I was told it was because I had surgical gloves on. She said I could be speading stuff from all over town on their items, (as if bare hands won't). I explained that I put on a new pair every time I go into a new store. She said it didn't matter. I feel that asking me to remove the gloves would have been more appropriate. I was going to spend a bit of money too... I needed some cookware.

I shopped at Habitat often when I lived in Anchorage and they were located at University. Today, at their Dimond location, I saw a beautiful set of dishes and inquired about how they were sold - individually or as a set. The saleswoman answered my question but proceeded to tell me that the dishes were very expensive. For extra effect, she added that they don’t work on commission there. I didn’t ask about cost or commission. I wanted to purchase a beautiful set of dishes. I didn’t make the purchase and I left feeling angry and lousy. Beautiful store but terrible service.

I have been going to Habitat for over 20 years... While it is true that sometimes the staff is a bit overwhelmed, in most cases I found what I was looking for, I was helped with parts for appliances, and often bought more than I had originally planned for. This store is a treasure trove for anybody interested in cooking or looking for interesting gifts for friends and family. Their move to Dimond Center is a loss for me, I liked to have them in my neighborhood, but I will certainly continue to patronize them, and I am sure that all efforts are made to ensure that staff is up to the task. The number of white boxes with green lids at my home and at my friends' places is quite a testimony of our faithfulness to Habitat Housewares!

After several shopping trips to this store over the last two years yesterday, was the most horrible experience I've ever had there. I went there to replace a CO2 cartridge that I had seen on a back shelf during previous visits and walked up to the counter when the only sales person ( an older lady) was standing on the customer side of the counter talking to an advertising sales person. She never acknowledged me and left me standing there for about two minutes and finally walked to the other side of the counter. I inquired about the exchange and she went into a long story about how they no longer do that because it used to cost them so much money. She then just turned around and walked away and went up and asked another customer if she could help them. All she needed to tell me was sorry we no longer carry that and it would've been great, her actions and wording were so intensely pretentious it was miserable. We only shop here because and pay a little higher price because it is a locally owned store… but we will never do it again!

I'm writing this post because I had terrible customer service at Habitat. What is customer service? For those of you clueless people out there, it is helping your customers solve problems, with an air of actually caring that they are happy and satisfied. Why? Because they are the freaking reason you are there! Without paying customers your store does not exist. This concept seems to be beyond the Me Generation. Clue: your job is to serve, not to pass your time until you pick up your paycheck.
I bought a pepper mill that turned out to be defective and, granted it took me a while to find my receipt and make it over to that part of town with the object in hand, but that did not change the fact that the thing didn't function properly. I had the "manager" try it out, and she said, "I see what you mean, but it's been too long since you bought it so I'll give you the number of the manufacturer and you can see what they can do." All she had to do was to trade it out for the identical model that did function properly, but no, she could not be bothered with my little problem. She wrote the number of the manufacturer on my receipt and waved me away.
I have been shopping at Habitat for years. I guess I'll just take my chances with the Internet from now on.
