After buying our new home in Daphne I knew I did not care for the appliances already in the kitchen.
A good friend told me to go talk to Barbara Fretwell at Coast Design and explain to her what I needed.
I called Barbara, told her when I could meet at the design office....she offered to come to my home first,
but I was going to be in Mobile the next day anyway so I would just come by. She took no offense at the fact
I did not want high-end appliances nor metal fronts. I like white front, simple, clean looking dishwashers, refrigerators... and I am glad she convinced me to change to the French top double open top doors...with the bottom freezer. Maybe I didn’t order the most expensive or fancies of new ideas, but Barbara treated me with the upmost respect, understood my reason for my style and took all the time needed to locate and arrange for both appliances to delivered and installed at the same time at my home. She took care of every little detail for me and I will be calling upon her again when I’m ready for a new stove and/or microwave.
I doubt if she made much of a commission...if that’s how they are paid....helping me, but I feel I made a friend for life. In fact, she was so sweet about my old fashion way, I bet we could have a great time away from work time.
Haleigh has been beyond wonderful to work with! Wonderful quality and customer service !

Will make you pay for their mistakes. Will not issue a refund even if it was their mistake. Employees incapable of delivering an effective design. They could just write the mistake off on their taxes but they insist on inconveniencing the would be customers. This is even if they are incapable of completing the job because of their own incompetence. Didn't even follow their own process that is listed on their website. Just awful. Hire someone else.

I had to wait weeks for my cabinets also once they got them they were missing parts I had to wait another month for those parts. I had everything lined for deconstruction of my kitchen then get a call they gotta reschedule so I’m out of a kitchen for weeks. I would highly recommend not using them because once you pay them everything up front they are not coming back out to do any repairs on the mistakes they made. Worst decision I made was using them… YOU KNOW MY NAME, SO DONT PLAY THOSE GAMES. I SPENT OVER 8k for work and you want me to pay you $350 to come back out? To fix a issue that your QC SAID THAT THE INSTALLERS SHOULD HAVE PUT IN. It took you 3 weeks to come back to drill a hole underneath my cabinets for a water line, that you wanted to charge for but I wasn’t gonna pay for.

Barbara Fretwell with Coast Design that we purchased all our appliance through was one of the most helpful person in designing my gorgeous kitchen. The builder could not believe how professional and articulate Barbara and Coast Design did on service and products. I would never recommend anyone else to purchase their appliances other than Barbara.
My kitchen is like a show-case home.
Barbara has many years of experience in appliance sales. I also purchased my washer and dryer from Coast Design and they are perfect and the best I have had in several years.
Another one of the most important things to look for when building a new home is honesty and knowledge. Barbara has both of these traits covered and will never fail you. Thank you Barbara for your service.

Don’t waste your time with Coastal Kitchen and Bath. I won’t use them again and would encourage others to try another appliance company.
We were given the name of an experienced salesperson who has so much experience, but so little regard for customer service that it may be time for her to retire.
When we switched our refrigerator from standard to counter depth we were not told of the changes in the model (standard had an outside ice maker/ CD did not), even though my husband asked for an updated invoice with the model number provided so that we could see what would be delivered.
When the refrigerator was delivered we asked about it and was told this was the only CD refrigerator this brand carried. Upon researching myself (I became the salesperson—however I did not make commission off my own purchase), I found that the brand had 2 models and the experienced salesperson chose the one with no ice maker because it was a French Door (like we had originally wanted) instead of side by side. How difficult is it to tell the customer “If you switch to counter depth you can have a French Door fridge with no ice maker on the outside or a Side by Side with an ice maker.”
Due to the lack of communication, both in not sending an updated invoice with a new model number, and not giving us our options of CD refrigerators, we were left with a refrigerator we were not happy with. We were told we would need to pay a restocking fee for them to take the first refrigerator back and another delivery fee for the new refrigerator. We refused to pay the restocking fee but were forced to pay the delivery fee.
All of this headache and additional cost due to an extremely experienced salesperson displaying poor judgement, and poor customer service.

Update: Coastal Design went above and beyond to fix an issue that was and is ultimately the builder's fault. I am grateful for the kindness and and assistance that Coast Designs provided. I technically was not their customer, but they treated me as one in the end and resolved a big issue. I can't thank them enough!!
An associate was quite rude and condescending in my home. I'm still not sure why she was the individual who was sent. She had no idea what was wrong with my dishwasher. Later that day, I had two wonderful appliance installers and they instantly stated "no water is supplied to the dishwasher." This is in a brand new home. I also did not call her to come to my house. I started with the builder and she is the first individual who showed up. I also asked her if the dishwasher was missing anything and she said "I don't know." For someone who sells these appliances, she does not have good knowledge about them. The installers again confirmed that it is missing the decorative plate on the bottom. I still don't have the plate....At least now it has water supply! The picture below is prior to service call.

We used Coast Design again recently to order us matching built in book shelves and cabinets for our house since that’s who our builder originally used. Our designer was Courtney and she did awesome with the design and ordering. Everything was in the order and I had it installed in no time. The quality of these bookshelves and cabinets was un-matched locally by a mile for the price as well.
We had an issue in the past with our kitchen caused by the builder but Coast Design helped get everything back together. It was a rocky road to get there but we appreciate that they came out in person to speak to us to explain everything and above all complete the job right.

I have purchased several appliances from Coastal Kitchen over the last 6 years, including two high end kitchen remodels and several kitchens for rental properties. My last experience with them has been terrible. They do not employ installers, therefore this is up to you the consumer to find a way to have your appliances installed. After it is out of the box they are done with any responsibilities for the appliances. My Bertazzoni Italian stove was inoperable. I was told to contact Bertazzoni myself, which I did, and after numerous service calls by the gas company and an installer they told me to call myself, who was totally inept, I finally resolved the problem on my own. The technician from the gas company told me he had never seen a gas stove without a pressure regulator! First clue there as a problem with this OVEN! I was in tears over my beautiful stove that would not heat correctly. I was told by Coastal Kitchens that I just didn’t know how to turn an oven or stove on. Come to find out it was delivered without a gas pressure regulator. And the gas line to the stove was occluded. I could have ordered the oven online, for much less money. In other words there is NO customer service after the sale. I also had a Scotsman ice maker in warranty that stopped working. The technician Coastal Kitchen told ME to call did not return my calls and after two weeks when I finally got him on the phone told me he does not service Mobile! Only Baldwin County! He did however give me the name of someone in Mobile who does Scotsman warranty service work. Shouldn’t Coastal Kitchen have known this? Again, no customer service. It makes me sad to write this review, because I believe in doing business locally, but hey just order online and save money. My wish for customer service after the sale did not exist. The only reason I bought and paid top price was the hope of good customer service. I was made to feel like a problem when I called Coastal Kitchen with these issues. After coming home and finding me in tears over my Bertazzoni oven my husband contacted the owner and only after this did I get polite assistance and my calls returned. Save your money. Order online because you are going to be doing the follow up work yourself anyway. Terrible service after the sale needs to be on their sign. I’m done with them. I think they have outgrown their capability to give good service. Shop elsewhere, ask about service after the sale, or order online.
After posting this review I got a call from management at Coastal Kitchens. They were very upset about my review and told me they met as a group and are trying to determine how to correct the problems I encountered. I was surprised that they called and were truly concerned and I do think they will try to improve service to their customers. She actually told me she was glad I posted the review because they were unaware of the problem and have met to correct things. I offered to take the post down but Google will not allow me to do that so this is my offering to them for calling me and telling me they were sorry for my experience. I'm at three stars wish it could be five stars. So try them out and see how the service is. I predict it will be improved. If so please post a positive review for Coastal Kitchen. I am including a picture of my oven. It is really beautiful. They did my cabinets also and I love them al!l The kitchen designer Robin was awesome!
