At one time Jeff may have been a capable marine professional but unfortunately that’s not currently the case. For my survey his communication was erratic, resulting in a misunderstanding that quickly escalated into rants, threats and harassment.

I called the guy to do an insurance survey and all I got " was sorry too busy bye " and immediately hung up the phone . I would understand if I needed a survey done this week but my survey is not due until February. Jeff didn't even want to hear me out to put it on the schedule. Yeah you’re busy now you might not be busy in February . I am also self-employed and run several employees so I understand how small businesses work and how busy it can get , yeah I answer every phone call and return everybody’s phone call because that’s what you do when you’re self-employed. Attitudes like “I can't give you the time of the day ” will run your company into the ground. Jeff I'll be talking about you every time somebody brings up a marine survey.

Jeff has been a real pleasure to work with. He didn’t hesitate to take a 230 mile lone drive from Emeryville to Morro Bay to perform the marine survey for our indented purchase of a 30 foot long kingfisher 3025 destination. He delivered a comprehensive and high quality survey report the 2nd day in consideration of our urgent need. Overall, Jeff’s professional service is of high quality and I recommend his service without reservation!

Jeff performed two surveys for us and did an outstanding and thorough job each time. His expertise helped us finally decide on a great older sailboat and make the right decision in avoiding one. If you would like an unbiased, honest, and professional survey Keiser Marine should be your go to. Be wary of the “brokers guy” that they often recommend for survey. From our experience working with Jeff it’s clear his only interest is in providing the most accurate and detailed picture possible of every vessel he surveys. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend Jeff Keiser Marine. He did a pre-purchase survey of a Rafiki 37 for me. It’s not a common boat, but Jeff was familiar with them. He’s very professional, conscientious, communicative, friendly, informative, and makes sure to take the time to explain anything that might be helpful going forward as the potential owner. Brokers may not look forward to his rigorous inspections, but his professional and easy to work with approach was also helpful in working with the previous owner and the broker. Jeff is very thorough in his knowledge and in his work. He pointed out numerous instances where I would want to correct something to conform to standards or best practices, including catching several that had been improperly done by recognized shops or other professionals. I read that many surveyors won’t climb masts, but Jeff did and caught a number of issues to correct. I’ve read several surveys and Jeff’s was not only more in-depth and comprehensive than others I’ve read, filled with the numerous recommendations he had pointed out to me, but also done surprisingly quickly. Highly recommended!

Jeff recently did a fantastic job on a pre-purchase survey of 35 foot sailboat for me. He arrived promptly at 9am and spent the entire day going through every nook and cranny of the vessel, including climbing the mast for a rig inspection. He had the necessary critical eye for all of the boat's systems and structural issues. Jeff was also very effective at communicating with the boat's current owner and drawing out more information. He was great at letting me follow along at every step of the process, answering my endless questions about issues we found. I was impressed by Jeff's overall responsiveness and communication - he was quick to return calls and we spoke at length on the phone before and after the survey to address my followup questions. The final report was incredibly thorough and turned around within a couple of days - on the weekend, no less - full of detailed photographs and documentation of needed repairs. I recommend Jeff for your survey needs without hesitation.
