811 said my backyard was "clear" for fiber optic lines ahead of a major tree planting project in my backyard. I knew that couldn't be right so I set up an appointment with elevated locating. They had appointment slots for the very next day available. They came out to my property on time and worked efficiently and thoroughly. They identified an extra fiber optic line that we were not aware was back there. We absolutely would have clipped a line if it had not been for them. Do not trust 811. The fee to have a private company like elevated locating to mark all utility lines is worth the ounce of prevention to prevent a pound of the cure.

There was a snow storm last second, they were prompt to call and give me option to reschedule, came out and quickly once weather permitted and marked everything very quickly and thoroughly

Who knew only public utilities are marked when you dial 811 before you dig? There is so much more that needs to be marked and Eric is great at educating home and business owners.
