A Frustrating & Costly Experience w/Direct Energy of Florida. I wish I could give zero stars for my experience with this company. My journey w/them has been nothing short of a disaster from start to finish. It all began in December 2022 when a salesperson named Mike (may he rest in peace) promised me that by installing solar panels, a water heater, and a pool pump, my electricity costs would be reduced to nearly nothing, with just a nominal fee of about $20 to FPL. This was, unfortunately, completely false. The installation process was painfully slow, taking about 8-9 months. During this period, I was repeatedly reassured by Branch Manager Chris that I would only be paying $210 a month for all three items. This, too, was a lie. After four months of delays, Chris finally got the permits approved, but communication was abysmal. I was constantly left in the dark and had to chase down updates myself. Once Chris handed me off to Jonathon, the situation didn’t improve. Despite communicating with Jonathon since May 2023, the panels were still not installed due to missing mounts. Communication was sporadic at best, with weeks of silence at times. In June 2023, I began receiving bills for solar panels that weren’t even installed yet. Jonathon did cover that month’s bill, but the payments kept piling up. In July, an inspector’s repeated rejections delayed progress further, w/Jonathon eventually compensating me for that month as well. Adding insult to injury, my water heater broke, causing a significant water spill in my garage. While they did replace the water heater, we were without water for several days. By August 2023, Jonathon claimed that an affidavit would bypass the need for a physical inspection. Skeptical but trusting their word, I managed to get the inspector to come out and approve the installation in August. Now, nearly a year later, my solar panels are still not functioning correctly. I am paying over $200 for FPL and $210 for the solar service every month. Despite numerous attempts to contact Jonathon, he has seemingly vanished. This has been one of the worst financial decisions I’ve ever made, costing me thousands of dollars with little to show for it. I strongly advise against working with Direct Energy of Florida. Promises made are far from the reality delivered.

My recent experience with Direct Energy of Florida, particularly with Sal Albano, has been nothing short of transformative. Sal's professionalism and willingness to assist exceeded my expectations, making the entire process seamless and enlightening. Upon Sal's recommendation, I decided to upgrade my old water heater, and I am delighted with the results. Not only has the new water heater significantly reduced my energy bills by $60, but it has also has an impact on the temperature in my garage. The difference is remarkable; it's noticeably cooler, and dryer which I find remarkable. Moreover, Sal's expertise didn't stop at the water heater. Obtaining information from this company following the sale is difficult to say the least. They have you sign a customer "testimonial" disavowing they made any promises of savings in energy usage and that you're on your own with all the tax credits and savings you may be eligible for. This is sketchy because they're relying on you taking notice of these tax credits and energy savings with more efficient appliances as a key part of their sales pitch. The functionality of the new appliances they install do not equate to the significant cost savings when the installer is done advising you of the operation of the devices and what's not connected. When you attempt to follow up with the salesperson as I have done at least twice, they point the finger at someone else that should be contacting you even after advising them you're still waiting for the information they showed you to be sent to you so you can inquire about these cost savings and tax savings programs yourself.
