I had called my elder aunt (76yo) about a month ago and she was so excited to finally be having her screened in porch redone. "I finally have the money saved and it should be ready for our get together July 4th!" This week I stopped by to check on her and when I asked if the porch had been done she was nearly embarrassed to tell me. "Well yeah, but theres a few things left for me to do". That didnt sound right so I went to take a look and realized all the posts hadnt been re surfaced or anything. They all looked old and rusty. I asked her if she called them and she said she did but that Kevin was very short with her and told her to review the contract. When I asked to see the contract - she handed me her phone! she says he told her to take a picture of the contract when she signed it. At 76yo she isnt a great contract photographer and it was very difficult to read. When I asked her why she didnt have the old posts re-done she said it never occurred to her "I just assumed if they are redoing the screened porch, that they would be re doing all of it. He never asked me or said anything about it" Kevin (owners son/salesman) wasnt there the day of install but one of the installers gave her 2 used cans of spray paint and told her if she needed more to stop by their office!! my 76yo aunt is being asked to spray paint the posts AND not try and get any on the new screen. I was dumbfounded to think thats how this place would treat ANY customer - let alone a 76yo grandmother and elder. I told her to contact elder affairs. She said his attitude about it made her feel uncomfortable. If this is how they treated my aunt, your aunt could be next. Find a company that cares about the seniors in South Florida.
