Overall

I had a bad experience with Ackerman. However, I accepted them sending me a tech for the second time and I am so glad they did. Ike was the tech and he was amazing. He actually listened to what I had to say and resolved the issue. Ike made the difference for me. I have more peace of mind with the changes he helped me implement. However, just to be clear the salesman Ben is not someone I would do business with again. Once he gets your money he is out. He says call the office.

They were great until the "transitioned customers to ADT monitoring centers". They swore up and down that it was just for monitoring, that everyone was still an Ackerman customer. Then I start getting billed by ADT, and Ackerman is completely out of the picture. So, they sold off customers and lied about it.

The customer service is the worst. Their system is terrible. I went days without service because the battery died quite a few times, and I wasn’t able to arm the system. For the monthly fees I was paying, I definitely would NOT recommend. It took them about 3 weeks just to get me my yard sign after installation. I had to literally call and harassed them for them to give me my yard sign that I paid for.

On 9/2, I discussed my issue with a rep. The conclusion was to change the battery. I ordered and changed it. The system showed all green lights. I went out of town four 4 days and when I returned the system was down. I called Ackerman, waited for someone to pickup. 30 minutes later, someone did. On the phone with them for about an hour,. Rep said, he would transfer me to a tech. Phone went back to a dial tone. Frustrated, I called today. Waited 30 or more minutes to be acknowledged. Again trouble shoot for about an hour. Couldn't fix the issue. They wanted me to wait 3 days before a tech would call me back. That means, no monitoring of my alarm system for that time period. And if they sent someone out. I would be charged with it. I ask to speak to a supervisor. I was hung up on again. Worse experience with any company I pay for service. In don't have time tight now to stay on hold again but, my next call will be to a supervisor or a senior manager in charge.

I contracted with Ackerman Security on October 13, 2021, when a representative Allen came out and sold me a system to connect to sensors from my pre-existing system. He stated that I would be able to use my existing motion sensors and door sensors with the Ackerman system. Amongst the purchases that were made, I requested a new sensor for a new perimeter door and a simple keypad for the main level.
When the technician arrived the next two weeks, he stated that he didn’t have the keypad that I requested because it was discontinued. He also stated that the salesperson should have contacted me regarding the matter, which he didn’t. The technician stated that my existing motion sensors were not included in the setup, which Allen promised they would. The technician offered to sell me a key fob to replace the keypad. When I refused because the key fob didn’t have a way of inputting a code, he offered to replace the motion sensors for the same price as the keypad and “give” me the key fob. I reluctantly agreed. During the installation, the technician removed part of my existing door sensors, which caused the door and wall paint to come off. He also left just a screw and bolt on one to serve as the magnet for that door. I attempted to contact salesperson, but he never returned my calls.

The technician returned on Tuesday, November 2nd to put up the motion sensors. After he left, the system began to completely malfunction. The doors constantly register as open even though they are not. The perimeter door with the new sensor continues to read Supervision Fail and beep continuously whenever the system is off. Even when the system is on, I can walk out the door without the alarm going off and Ackerman being notified. The system periodically states that the Z View is missing. The “Armed Away” and “Night,” which should be connected to the motion sensors within the house, do not work at all. Needless to say, Ackerman system has violated my family security.
