I had ADT for over 6 years until we recently moved. When we began talking to ADT about transferring service we learned about all of the hidden fees/set up charges they did not disclose from our previous installation. Long story short, they robbed us of over 2k in fraudulent undisclosed charges. I will never again use ADT or recommend them.

**BUYER BEWARE** Nothing more important than reading through the details in the contract. The sales reps omit information and tell half truths (at best) about the terms of the deal. Equipment costs are very high, so they amortize across the contract, If you try to cancel, of course the equipment cost comes due, even if you sell the home with a working security system. But, the kicker is the cost to terminate the contract, which, even after the equipment is paid, is exorbitant. We had our system for two years, still owed $1,200 on equipment... Eeventhough thats high, and our home buyer will use ADT, I pretty much get that we got the equiptment, and could tear it out and trash it if we wanted. However, they then charged an additional $1,500 if we didn't transfer the service to our new home. That $1,500 was for what? Oh yeah, it was because they include a huge cancelation fee... Why, because they embed that in the fine print, and therefore, they can (Friggin' time share wannabes). Yep, no one to blame but ourselves, but you can avoid our mistake, by making sure you are comfortable with the terms. As for us, we didn't expect to have the service for >2 years at $90 per month($2,300), cancel because we are moving, and still owe $2,700. That's all in at $5,000 for two years. From my perspective, you had better plan to keep the service for 10-15 years or so, to hit a break even on the value of the service. Buyer beware, all is not as it is told to you, read the contract details, then do the math. If you are sure you will keep ADT for at least 10-15 years, it may be for you. If you are like us, and aren't sure what we'll have for breakfast tomorrow, making a 10-15 year commitment to a security service isn't/wasn't prudent.

I ordered a system for my home and my office in December of 2022 for approx $5300 plus monthly fees. After dozens of phone calls & text messages to salesperson John Nye to complete the home system, I am still begging for it to be finished. When our system went off at our home today, they didn’t even call me as the contact person but called my fried as the owner. The police were also notified that my friend was the homeowner instead of me. Unbelievable since I paid for both contracts. The office install has yet to be scheduled after almost daily calls & text messages to salesperson John Nye. If you reach out to the local number, you get an overseas rep who cannot resolve anything after holding forever. They did offer to charge me an additional $473 to replace the wrong thermostat they brought to my home install but other than that we seem to be out of luck. If we did not need security for our business, we would be completely done with any kind of security system. We will be initiating chargebacks on both properties as we have no way to complete these jobs. Don’t think you will be getting local service because you get an ADT person to sell you a system - you will be getting someone overseas who cannot help other than to sell you additional products and services. Once you give them your credit card and sign the contract, you are on your own.
