I'm a vendor who had a service agreement with Cardinal to be a commission partner on a job. I was copied on the communication with the customer, which was slow, inconsistent, incomplete, and confusing. Surprisingly the job still went through and the customer was happy with his fence in the end, which is good. This was 7 weeks ago and I haven't received payment as agreed upon. I've sent countless texts and voicemails to the owner Pete which are always met with excuses and delays including weather, illness, and the finance person on vacation. I’ve attached our text conversation with 13 different excuses and promises (which does not include phone conversations). Not once has he done what he says he will do (call tomorrow, pay tomorrow). Reading through the reviews here it looks like I'm not the only one frustrated with the lack of communication, follow through, and honesty.

Cardinal Fence put up a fence about 5 years ago in my brother’s yard. The gate has been becoming progressively harder to open and close. I called Cardinal on Wednesday and they sent Steve two days later to look at it. I expected a (high) estimate but to my shock and delight, he adjusted the hinges and the latch and fixed it on there spot! Thank you Steve and Cardinal; I thought we’d be wrestling with that gate another month!

I’m not you’re average DIY guy. Finding chain link fence posts that we’re better quality than the box stores was important to me. Cardinal Fence understood that and was very helpful. Pete sat down with me and talked about the importance of some items and the practicality of other items. At the end of the day I have a high quality product that I’m confident will last for many years. I’m extremely satisfied with the delivery service of my materials. This made my project convenient for me to install myself. My gates fit perfectly in place! This is not a box store. If you want to deal with a kind and professional fence contractor then this is the place for you.

I just love working with Cardinal fence they were very communicational and most definitely polite. They kept me informed with everything on the behalf of my fence. My fence was installed Nov 21, 2022. Guy is the person I worked with and I will refer him to anyone. Very nice respectful man.

Probably one of my worst experiences dealing with a business... To start, we explained that we have dogs and recently moved, and were needing a fence fairly quick. I said I could do it myself, but if the quote was reasonable and not too delayed, we'd hire someone to do it. The quote we received was for $2,998 for just shy of 270 feet (simple residential job), and an expected start time of two to two and a half weeks (requested a call a day or two prior). We obliged, and put down a 50% deposit. It went downhill from there. At two and a half weeks, no call; I contacted them to find out we were pushed back one week. OK, not too big of a deal... 1st trip - Installation team did NOT follow the guidelines drawn by the sales rep and I; had I not been home, they would've straddled/crossed the northern property line, despite my marking it and saying "leave at least a 6" buffer." 2nd trip - Team came out to install fence three days later. Turned out they did not have the gates as ordered. Would have to make a return trip on Monday (6 days from start). 3rd trip - Team came to install gates on Monday morning. Forgot hardware for drive-through gate. 4th trip - Returned Monday evening to install hardware. At this point, figuring they were done, I walked the fence to begin finding the damages - some of it looked about like it had been drug through a parking lot. Also discovered cigarette butts left by the team, which fortunately I caught so my dogs wouldn't get sick... 5th trip - "Repair crew" came out to paint/repair damages. Did a terrible job, breezed through and missed a lot of it. Again did not call to give notice, which meant my gates were locked. Didn't stop them, as they supposedly "jumped it." 6th trip - Had the sales rep come back to survey the disappointing work. He said for himself that the "gates should not have left the yard" in the shape they were in. Said he would get someone on it right away. 7th trip - A week after the follow-up, still no call. Tried contacting the company rep three times with no return call. Finally got in touch with a co-owner, who made arrangements for another repair team. I EXPLICITLY stated "the terminal caps were damaged and needing replaced." Team came out that Monday (with no warning/notice as requested because of my dogs), and "fixed" the remaining damage. They FORGOT to replace caps, despite being reminded, and did not fix some of the lose ties as I pointed out previously. 8th trip - Another repair guy came to replace caps...well, so I thought. They were out of stock and had to order, because apparently the original install team put the WRONG CAPS ON (industrial, NOT residential). 9th trip - Same guy came back 4 days later, replaced caps and other damage. Upon replacing INDUSTRIAL caps with RESIDENTIAL, they were neither level nor did they sit as deep as the former. This resulted in scratches protruding out from the bottom, which he did not repair before leaving. At this point, I was done and sick of the experience. Instead of dealing with anymore headache, I simply asked for an invoice reduction to make amends and part ways, given I had NOT received the quality of work I was promised. I had to have four conversations with them and get agitated to finally get a mere $350 off my original invoice of almost $3,000... Total project/repair time - approximately 9 trips in 4 weeks! Can't forget, I later found wire ties dropped by the install team...with my lawn mower. But because they were "only aluminum," I had nothing to worry about (this was the response from the co-owner.
