My roofing project with Bruin Corporation was a bit of a disaster, which I had to fight against repeatedly to have corrected.
We went with Bruin because they had an impressive sales pitch, with cutaways showing their work standards and examples of their processes and materials. Bruin seemingly subcontracted the job to 6 guys showing up in 1 van with little discernible training or skills and no discussion or notification of agreed upon items in the work order.
Day1 - I found dozens of nails haphazardly driven into my deck railings and siding to hold the tarps used to catch the stripped shingles (many of which were noticed by catching my arm or ripping my clothing), my yard and driveway were littered with nails and sharp flashing and hundreds of pieces of trash blown by the wind, and I even stumbled upon a worker relieving himself in my front yard.
Day 2 - Workers sloppily buttoned up the job by asking me, via Google translate, to use my personal tools because they had forgotten theirs, asked to use my bathroom despite 2 portable toilets on site at my expense, and left without debrief largely due to no foreman on site. The job done resulted in a 4-page punch list including uneven reveal of shingles noticeable from street, no ridge vent installed as agreed upon in contract, improper water barrier install, and somehow roofing nails being driven through my roof into my living room ceiling.
Day 3 - After waiting a week or so for scheduling Bruin returned and agreed to remediate items in contract not completed. Ridge vent installed and shingles corrected. However it was determined the ice barrier was surreptitiously placed to appear like it was installed from the ground. But a pry bar under the drip edge and a flashlight revealed an attempt to make it LOOK as though it was completed.
Day 4 - Crew no-show. Project manager fired and told to stay off my property.
Day 5 - Project assumed by company construction manager and new crew brought to site. Bruin challenged me on what items were in the contract but eventually acquiesced, and then asked if I would allow original project manager to return which I denied.
Day 6 - Job completed, roof installed outside of parameters of manufacture’s specifications (as stipulated in contract) for cold weather install, but at that point I just wanted it to be over.
My wife tells me if she was just a single mother with no background in construction (I worked a few years in the trades) she would have paid for many services and then not received them as per the contract; and then not known it.
The experience during days 5-6 was not terrible. The new crew were reasonable and receptive. I do not blame the original crew, just seemed untrained and unskilled I would think this was an issue of management. I received a discount from the original job pricing in the range of 3-5% as an attempt to make it right, which I accepted.
The project was over 2 years ago and I notice more and more items, albeit mostly ‘minor’, that were done poorly or not at all. I have taken it upon myself to remedy these as opposed to making a warranty claim, as I do not trust the company to rectify. I hope my experience was a total anomaly, but even if so I wanted to make it known.
I also receive occasional marketing calls from Bruin office.
This is my second time in dealing with Bruin. They have been fabulous, their crew is very nice, and respectful. they clean up after themselves. Booking with them and the staff is very easy. Their product is very good. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs windows. They get my 5 star

Bruin's team recently completed a home insulation project at our house. The project was complementary to what the previous owner had done. Following a visit by MassSave, we were connected with Bruin. They contacted us to schedule over the phone. Everything was confirmed via email, and we were always kept informed of any changes or the upcoming visit. The work itself was performed professionally and timely. The crew was friendly and courteous. They cleaned up once the work was done. It was an all-around pleasant experience.

I recently used Bruin Remodeling as part of my Mass Save energy insulation project. The girls in the officer were very helpful when I needed to reschedule the date. The two young men who did the work were very polite and professional and worked in 130 degree temperatures in the attic. They did a great job and did a great job cleaning up leaving the floor cleaner then when they arrived. Five stars all around

Bruin recently installed a new front door and storm door. They were very easy to work with throughout the sales and installation process. Every detail was met and the installation day was as smooth as can be! We were referred to Bruin by a friend and will be happy to continue passing their name forward.
