We hired Fresh Start for a full bathroom addition to our 100-year old house in Cambridge. We had the extra complication of the addition being attached to a part of our house that shared a wall with our neighbor's garage. Our project manager spent as much time as necessary to communicate with our neighbor and manage his concerns. I appreciated Fresh Start's transparent, regular billing and ease in working with Cambridge bureaucracy and quirks. Everyone we dealt with from Fresh Start was polite and professional without being patronizing. Joe Powers, our project manager, was extremely patient and responsive. We ended up expanding the scope of our project --taking advantage of having contractors in the house -- and Joe guided us through many decisions-- providing estimates, suggesting order of operations, and how to prioritize --without ever pressuring us. Mike Wurtzburger and Jesse Knapp-Stumpp rounded out our wonderful team. We're so appreciative of their work ethic and attention to detail. Our whole team was a pleasure to work with, and I'm already planning another project!
This was our first experience with a major renovation (Kitchen) and Fresh Start has been a key partner in helping us accomplish all our project goals. Ben had the initial consultation and made recommendations regarding an architect, and other really useful suggestions to develop a kitchen plan aligned with our vision. Fresh starts budget estimate was very competitive (compared with 3 other local companies). The project team assigned to the renovation was an absolute delight to work with, especially the project manager, Tom Moskaluk. Tom was very attentive, reliable and a genuine sounding board to bounce off our ideas and make selections from a multitude of options for our kitchen. He was punctual and managed all fresh start contractors as well as third party contractors with utmost professionalism while staying on track with time and budget. He is a good listener, detail oriented, and executes all tasks in a timely fashion. Fresh start made several adjustments and went out of their way to ensure that our 5-6 month time spent in the living room was as comfortable as possible. We love our new kitchen and would highly recommend, Ben and Tom to any new prospective home owners interested in a significant renovation project.

Fresh Start turned a nightmare into a dream! after major water damage from a frozen sprinkler pipe and roof leakage. 3 contractors flaked out on the project leaving us in the middle of a construction zone. A friend suggested Fresh Start and I couldn't have been happier. The whole team was so great from assessing and planning, to the day to day construction and finishing up the details. Every person in and out of our home was polite, skilled and knowledgeable a pleasure to have around. they explained things clearly and were particularly great to work with as a woman they weren't condescending or over simplifying this. Billing and transparency was great. easy systems to work with and easy to communicate and get in touch. but the best part was the quality of work. Beautiful hard wood floor repair with such high quality and attention to detail you can't tell where the old floor started and the new one began. We rebuilt a roof deck as part of the repair in beautiful easy to maintain composite and now have a summer oasis. Seeing the beauty and knowing the structure work beneath it is sound and high quality puts our minds at ease. I'd recommend Fresh Start to anyone seeking a contractor and would be thrilled to work with them again. So happy every time I come home to my beautifully restored house! My architecture firm first worked with Fresh Start this year and they did a terrific job. We appreciate their professionalism and the quality of the work. Currently they are building a second project for us and so far the results are equally as good!

We first hired Fresh Start about 7 years ago to remodel our basement. They did an excellent job. We get so many compliments! (Shout out to our designer as well, Melissa Hammond Design). We went straight to Fresh Start when we wanted to remodel our bathroom last year. It was a big job because we wanted to move the plumbing requiring a soffit in our kitchen. The soffit looks seamless. We also needed to change the windows requiring additional construction inside and out. Their work is top-notch and they are very responsive if any issues arise. I highly recommend working with Fresh Start.
