Overall

Had a new two stage Trane system installed by McCrea. The whole process from start to finish was great. They gave me several options to choose from and discussed the pros and cons. Pricing was competitive, and had pointed out some things others had missed regarding code compliance and age of my prior system. The installation crew was timely, professional, and efficient. I’ve had two systems installed by McCrea now and wouldn’t hesitate to use them in the future.

I’ve been a McCrea Heating & Cooling customer since I purchased my home in Maryland, back in 2012. It was a brand new home and McCrea installed the HVAC system. I’ve maintained a service contract with them ever since. For the most part, my experiences have be good and I’ve had no major issues with the HVAC system. My service contract includes two annual maintenance visits.
I experienced some challenges scheduling my annual summer inspection this year. In May, 2024, I went to the McCrea website and selected the first available date on the McCrea calendar which was Monday, June 17. I received a confirmation email moments after scheduling online. On Friday, June 14, I contacted McCrea to determine a timeframe for Monday, so I could plan my day accordingly. I was informed that a technician had not been assigned to my request despite the fact that the scheduled request was showing on their calendar. Furthermore, I was informed that the earliest available appointment was July 3, but later told that June 27 was available. However, I was contacted by McCrea later and informed that June 27 was no longer available nor was July 3. The next availability was July 10. On July 9, I contacted McCrea and confirmed my appointment for the next day. I repeated this on the morning of July 10 and a verbal confirmation was given. However, on July 10, no one showed up or called. That evening I called the McCrea office and spoke with the answering service and was told that someone would call me back. No one did. On the morning of July 11, I called the McCrea office and informed them that no one had shown up for my inspection the day before and I was assured that a technician would be dispatched that day. A technician did come and my unit was serviced.
This experience was disappointing and very different from my history with McCrea. I have given serious thought about looking for another HVAC company with whom I can invest in a new service contract. I have decided to stay with McCrea for two reasons. The first is my experience with the customer service representative, Ms. Janai Evans. I spoke with several representatives in this particular case, but most frequently with Ms. Evans. She was always courteous, empathetic, professional, supportive and a stalwart advocate for my circumstance. Despite the inconveniences, interacting with Ms. Janai Evans, was always reassuring and comforting. The second reason I will stay with McCrea relates to the technician who arrived, Mr. Ronald Bell. He was amazing. He was kind, considerate, engaging, informative and conducted himself with the highest form of professionalism and expertise. He offered excellent advice and communicated in ways that made him trustworthy.
I don’t know what’s happening with McCrea, internally, that created a disconnect with their online scheduling platform and the need to reschedule me three times including a no-show, but it wasn’t an emergency and I did get what I needed. Most important to me is how people conduct themselves and the opportunity for healthy relationship experiences. Ms. Janai Evans, and Mr. Ronald Bell personify the character credentials that may ultimately reflect the core values of a company which in turn translates into a healthy customer experience. Despite the disappointment and inconvenience, those persons made it worthwhile nonetheless. Therefore, I’m willing to stay with McCrea.

The technician, Ronald, that provided service on 6/13/24 did an outstanding job. He has been to my house several times. He did a thorough job this time as well as the previous time he came. I don’t think this company really cares about their customers time. Twice I have signed a paid for maintenance contract with McCrea. I was given times for the technician to arrive, between 8:00 - 12:00 noon. Neither time did the technician arrive within that time period. No communication about the delay or anything. I had to call the company both times to ask about the arrival of the technician. Today the technician arrived at 4:40 pm. The time before 2 hours late. No more business with this company.

The technician, Patrick, is polite, professional, and knowledgeable. The general office is also easy to deal with. I happen to use their maintenance agreement, trouble free and reasonable.

I'd like to take a moment to express my gratitude and commend McCrea Heating and Cooling. We encountered a unique situation during our home move, as our new residence lacked air conditioning and a dual system furnace(as is purchase). Simultaneously, we discovered our current home needed both a new furnace and air conditioning unit. John guided us through this challenging situation seamlessly, despite our lack of financial preparedness. He not only assisted with our current home's issues but also facilitated the installation of a new air conditioning unit in our new place. Coordinating with an electrician, he ensured the necessary electrical work was completed for the installation of the dual system furnace and air conditioning. Given that our new home was from the 1940s, there were numerous tasks involved, such as vent adjustments and additions to ensure adequate airflow throughout. Despite the complexity, John provided unwavering support, maintaining excellent communication and professionalism throughout. I will undoubtedly rely on McCrea Heating Services for any future needs.

John and his team of workers did an EXTRAORDINARY job servicing our entirely new system of wall and cassette Mitsubishi units! McCrea came out quickly to assess our needs, get us an estimate, and scheduled us on the books within a week when so many others ghosted us. The servicemen who were at our home were courteous and respectful of our home, pets, and needs. We still have a few projects down the line for heating and air and will be calling McCrea again!
