I've been a long-time customer of Deering Lumber, but this past Friday I had an experience that led me to write this review praising this lumber yard for all to see. From the expert advice, professionalism, and friendly service of Dave at the counter, to the stock yard associate Paul who spent much of his mid-morning helping me find the perfect lumber for my building project. Exquisite service that must rival that of the most posh New York hotels!!!

We are building a back deck and Deering has been nothing short of fantastic to work with! I put in our materials list for a quote and they responded same day, prices very reasonable. Got our order two days later and they put everything exactly where I had asked (not on the new grass). We had some connectors that were not exactly right and when I went in to exchange them they were patient and helpful. We also ordered way too much concrete and they said they can pick up and process return next day. Their service is phenomenal and we are happy to support the local business.

Walked up to the front counter and asked some questions about the siding on my house which is no longer manufactured. I just wanted to know what my options were for a new type of siding! The guy at the counter definitely made me feel like he didn't have time for my questions and didn't want my business. Went directly to Hammond Lumber in Portland and they took care of me with a smile. Siding was delivered for free two days later. If your not a contractor or don't know exactly what you need, I suggest staying away from Deering Lumber...

This company is well known and has done well for years but need to give low marks. They stiffed me on a purchase of 6x6 hemlock timbers costing me $100+. I ordered 10x 8 foot timbers. They delivered 16 foot timbers and told me to cut in half. The driver dumped the timbers damaging the ends. They dumped junk on me. I then spent more than a month calling each week and they consistently told me that new stock was coming. One foolish salesman told me the delivery was due in a few hours ...that was weeks ago. They stiffed me.
