In 2023, after several prolonged power outages, we had enough of being in the dark/cold without water, which finally pushed us over the edge to “go solar”. We had always intended to go solar to offset our significant winter and summer electricity bills, as we have 6 mini-split heat pumps throughout our house which do most of the heating and cooling work. Our house does not have a generator, and some form of a battery system was needed to tide us over outages.
After doing my own relatively extensive research into the various subtypes of solar/battery variants, we spoke and obtained quotes from various solar installers in the Bangor region. I was also interested in a battery system and investigated options offered by Tesla and Enphase.
I also had specific requirements for reducing EMI/RFI emissions from the system related to my hobby as an audiophile. I have a very resolving high end stereo setup which is sensitive to RFI/EMI emissions which can be generated by the solar panels and inverters.
After speaking with 3-4 other solar installers in the area, we were left quite disappointed with the unwillingness to accommodate our particular needs, or otherwise were quoted an exorbitant amount for the size of system we needed.
This is when a physician colleague recommended DIYSolar.me as a potential resource, after their own excellent experience with Navneet Jain, the owner and founder.
Navneet was extremely knowledgeable, unfailingly polite and professional, and simply a truly nice guy. He not only had a deep grasp of the complex issues behind installing a solar system, but was willing and able to explain in detail what was necessary and why. He was also able to accommodate my requests for reducing EMI/RFI emissions to the fullest extent possible.
In May of 2023, we proceeded with installation of our system consisting of 66 400-500W panels, 3 x 7.6kW Solaredge inverters, 3 x LG RESU 16H batteries and backup interface for seamless backup power during grid/power outages. Navneet and his assistants/partners worked quickly and efficiently with excellent workmanship – the panels were perfectly installed and looked like an integral part of our roof without compromising the design and aesthetics of our house.
Due to Navneet’s meticulous planning, our system was up and running much sooner than I expected given the size of our install. Navneet also adroitly navigated all the permits, inspections and applications that were necessary for a grid-tied system. Minor issues that came up (which are expected with any install) were solved swiftly by Navneet, who is an excellent communicator and kept us fully briefed at every turn.
We are now at slightly over 1 year (July 2024) living with the Solaredge/LG system that DIYSolarME put in place for us.
We have been EXTREMELY happy with the reliability of the equipment, the amount of power produced, the seamless backup power during storm power outages, and especially with the fit/finish and quality of DIYSolarME’s work throughout this process. The panels and associated cabling have survived several storms and snowfalls through winter without a hitch; our record day production thus far was 176 kWh!
The excellent post-installation service from DIYSolarME has also left nothing to be desired.

DIY worked easily with us throughout the process, from design to installation. Navneet and his crew were cheerful and hard-working, starting at dawn and only stopping after they had admired the sunset from the ridgepole. We could not be happier with our new solar panels.

Installing this solar system was such a blast! Navneet was extremely thorough with his planning and allowed me to be involved to whatever extent I wanted. I learned so much from him during the install. Now no electric bills, just a $10 transmission fee monthly! With the federal tax deduction the project was quite affordable. I would highly recommend DIYSolar and Navneet to anyone.
