Prices are a little steep compared to Vikings and home Depot, but it's convenient having a lumber yard nearby.

Was at lowes yesterday getting a few things bucksport store did not have! Needed 5 2x4's and said I will buy local; I like the people there! Walked in and was greeted by lady who I deal with most of time I go in; jokingly asked how bad are 2x4's today? Her response was 11.99 each! I said are you kidding me? (Because we joke sometimes) her reply was nope; but at least they haven't gone up! I try to but local as much as possible; and usually do; but this is crazy! I can't and won't pass this price increase on to my customers; (I have a small workshop in town) but I try to buy at bucksport as much as possible! A dollar or so difference i can deal with; but this is crazy! Corporate people need to take notice! Your awesome employees can only justify so much! I bought the 5 i needed; but I need a 100 for next week! Any guesses where I'm going???

I live in Bucksport and I’m a contractor. Being that Hammond is the only building supply store within 15-20 miles, I shop there often. Almost daily, truth be told. The employees are pretty good and helpful. The yard workers are very good. The selection and inventory is abhorrent, though what little they do have are decent products. It’s really too bad because they own quite a bit of unused land, so there’s plenty of room to expand. If not for the employees doing their best I’d probably give this store 1 star.

Why I only gave one star is do to the fact that the Hammond Lumber in Orland, Me. Sucks as far as customer service and the atmosphere. True Value should have never sold. If you have a refund coming back to you in a fairly good amount you no longer can get a local check from them at that location. You have to wait over a week to get a check from their headquarters. You can't even go yourself to pick up the check cause they have to mail it to you.

Friendly staff. Great selection of Hardware & Lumber. Staff is very helpful when asked and even unprompted. Prices are pretty good except for paint.
