Breakwater Inspections (more specifically, John Howard) recently inspected a house we are planning to buy. His inspection was thorough and complete. He explained everything really well and in a way we could understand. He is not only super nice, but super good at what he does. We learned about some issues with the house that would have been expensive to fix. We got a price reduction from the seller that was a life-saver to fix the problems. We are doing a big shout-out to everyone! If you need a great home inspector, John is your guy!
We cannot recommend John Howard at Breakwater Inspections strongly enough! He is extremely thorough, professional, and pleasant to work with. His company offers a variety of services and provides substantive information about issues that can come up in home maintenance, tips for preventative care, and informational brochures to help educate his customers. He was very responsive to questions and provided clear explanations. We highly recommend him and his company.

Can't say enough good things about Jon! Stayed and talked with us about every issue on the house. When I found something that didn't look right he came over to look at it himself to verify if there was in fact an issue. Very professional, easy to talk with and gave some great advice. Definitely will be using again in the future, if and when I purchase another house. Thank you Jon.

John performed a buyer inspection on our new home and he was incredible. He was thorough and efficient in his inspection, and incredibly fast in developing and sending his reports. He was incredibly responsive over email and by phone and was helpful in answering all of our questions both in person and over email. On top of all of it, his COVID safety standards were high - he remained distanced and masked at all times and wore gloves while inspecting indoors.

I have known John and his wife personally for more then a decade and John professionally for more than six years. In that time he has performed two inspections for me and I have been very pleased I engaged him. His knowledge and expertise put him at the top of the ladder with other inspectors I have worked with. His time spent on site really show his high standards and his reports are written in clear and understandable language not filled with jargon. I would not hesitate to recommend him and I have many times.

John Howard! If you are looking for someone knowledgable, professional, and friendly for a home inspection, book with John. He not only did an incredibly thorough inspection of our home inside and out but was able to give us some great advice moving forward as we transitioned into our new place, answering every last question and email while doing so in a caring and compassionate way. Some concerns surfaced in the homebuying process for us but his knowledge and willingness to spend time with us as his client was just superb and we had total peace of mind with the house after he walked us through different things that had raised questions. Excellent customer service. He clearly has a passion for people and great at what he does, and that makes him such a great person to work with. Bravo. Hands down-- go with Breakwater Inspections, you will not regret it.

We were very pleased with the inspection that John did for us. He was very communicative before the inspection and prompt with his follow-ups. He was on time for the inspection and answered all of our questions in a clear way, and made it easy to understand complicated issues. He offered lots of insights that were really helpful. The report was excellent and delivered to us the next day! He found issues with the house that we were able to negotiate that saved us thousands on the purchase price. We have bought many homes and this was by far the best home inspection we have ever had; and for a very reasonable fee! Highly recommended!!

John from Breakwater is amazing. He is quick to respond, professional, thorough, knowledgeable and matter of fact in his explanation of home issues. He was very patient with us as we followed him around asking all kinds of questions in the large, complex and older house that we are considering buying. One day after the inspection, he delivered via email a comprehensive 77 page report on the house, complete with photos of every potential issue. He also quickly responded to questions we had after he sent us the report. We give him our highest recommendation with no reservations whatsoever to anyone looking to buy a house in Maine.

Buying a home is a very stressful process and there are many home inspectors and services available to the public. I checked out a few that were recommended to us but no one came close to John Howard of Breakwater Inspections. John was amazing and extremely helpful and responded to emails promptly. He was very thorough and knowledgeable and made a lot of recommendations throughout the whole process.
