I hired Bill Rupert of Maine Spiral stair case to build me a spiral staircase and a set of railings.i gave him a deposit in mid October, 2 months later the staircase finally showed up. after staircase was put up, Bill then measured for the railings. about a week later I received a quote on the railings and was asked to double check his measurements, good thing I did. he had one of the railings 18 inches longer than it needed to be. I drew up a set of my own plans and sent to him with exact measurements on how i wanted railings made. on the right side of loft there was to be one long railing, on the left side there where to be two railings. one railing off the wall, and another to make the turn onto staircase landing. so another two months go by and Bill shows up a day late with the railings. the railing on the right side was pretty good and could be made to fit. however the railings on the left side which where suppose to be in two pieces where fabricated as one. well, when we tried to install the railing the angle was 12 inches off. when I questioned Bill as to why he made the railing in one piece as opposed to two pieces like I clearly specified in my drawing he had no answer for me. he asked for his check and out the door he went. pretty much told me that the correction was on me. so after paying him $5300 for staircase and railings, now I had to hire a welder to come fix his mistake......this repair is going to cost me $375-$400. my wife and I are very unhappy with the mess he left us with. we would not recommend Maine Spiral Staircase or Bill Rupert to do any railing work for anyone David Saucier New Hampshire
