We paid Ideal Electric in full for the purchase and installation of a 6KW Generac off-grid generator in 2014.
Since then, based on Ideal Electric’s recommendation, we’ve had them service it annually. We built our off-grid solar powered house by ourselves and appreciate like few others the necessity of keeping our energy system in peak condition. Annual generator maintenance from a professional was a service we deemed crucial.
In the Fall of 2020 we noticed that the generator was leaking oil. When he came for annual servicing, the Ideal Electric technician told us that the leak wasn’t a big deal and he would attend to it the following year by replacing a gasket.
The generator continued to leak oil through the year. So in the Fall of 2021 while looking at the unit, the technician took apart major components and put them back together and ripped a gasket. He said it shouldn’t be a problem and that he would replace it during the next servicing. The generator never stopped leaking oil, so the technician came back in a few weeks to replace the gasket. A few days later when we started up the generator, it made a loud cracking, breaking noise. We turned it off immediately. Without touching the unit, we could see that the flywheel had flown off and that other parts in that area were bent up and broken.
A few days later the technician said it looked like a big problem and that they would have to take the whole thing apart to fix it and maybe discover that it wasn’t fixable. He also said that ours was the only off-grid model that he has worked on, that it is different than the other models, that he didn’t have a service manual for ours, and that we might want to buy a new generator, and that Generac makes bigger, more powerful, more expensive generators now.
In short, we believe that the Ideal Electric technician was not trained to service the generator model that Ideal Electric sold us and whose own technician in fact broke.
Rather than offer to repair or replace our generator at no cost (or discounted cost), Ideal Electric has sent us invoices for their last couple of visits.
I called Ideal Electric on a Monday because I had a major issue with the outside electric box giving me power to my home was bad, (CMP was going to shut my power off if I did not get it fixed in one week) Ideal Electric was out to my house that afternoon and had the problem fixed two days later. Rick went above and beyond to help me out and I cant thank him enough. This company is outstanding and professional from the office to the site workers.

Richard, owner, was patient and listened to our electrical issues. Scheduled a site visit 2 days later. Walked through our issues and educated us on the issues. We were much relieved our issues were not the safety concerns we feared. Richard was excellent.

Once I got all my information of what I needed done to Rick , the guys arrived when they said they would and got the job done quicker than expected with no issues . Wesley and Trace did great work and were very courteous and professional both around our workers and our customers . Will 10 out of 10 recommend

Rick and his team have gone above and beyond to take care of anything from light switch replacements to complete generator installations for our agency. Ideal electric really is the ideal choice.

I recommend IDEAL Electric. The electricians are very professional, they answers all my questions, repairs and replaces everything needed to ensure that the Mount Joseph electricity is working properly and conveniently. We have used their services for many years and will continue to call on them for repairs and projects.

It never went to far. Someone from Ideal came down. Took my info and what kind of electrical work I needed. 5 days later I had to call back to get my estimate sent to me. I was happy with the price so I responded but unfortunately no response back. I called their office and asked if they were an insured company. I just moved to the area. Then my call was transferred to the owner to ask for proof of insurance before the work was performed. The owner gave me an attitude and was hostile towards me. He said he would send a copy of their insurance Certificate and never sent it. I guess the job was too small for myself to get any respect from Ideal. That's okay I went with someone else. If your smart you will avoid them all together

Rick and his crew are professional and cost effective. He assured us that the job could be completed within a specified time frame, and he achieved it without any inconvenience to us. We have used him for both commercial and residential jobs. Highly recommended.
