First half of our window project is in and they're already completely worth it! It was a two day project, and the two people were personable and efficient. They arrived a bit before nine and were done by 3:30 each day - and we had a more complicated window that luckily turned out to not be an issue. The noise difference has been amazing, we're both sleeping better. The house has been staying cooler so much better, since we get a ton of morning and afternoon sun. I'll be updating this review as we get our door and second half done. But so far we are completely thrilled!
I'm working on a post mortem with this project. Simply put, we are reeling from all the new learnings after dropping 20k on new windows. Almost all of our expectations of apex have been different from what we expected. I'm not a "good" client on these windows, as I simply don't know enough and wanted a lot from the project. Now I know more and hope this review helps others make decisions before putting down your 10s of thousands for your large projects.
1) VOC expectations: we started by asking about the window VOC, and went with apex based on the black of adhesives used to bind the window together. This decision was less about performance for us and more about low VOC off gassing requirements. We were then met with 14% VOC spray foam on the interior of the window. This type of thing could have been presented and handled better at the quoting phase, rather than taking us by surprise. I would have managed scheduling such that my wife could be out of the house during off gassing periods.
2) construction zone: when we talked about scheduling with Matt, it basically seemed like there would be minimal interruption and the workers were used to kids being around. I don't know why he bothered telling me this, as the house was a giant construction zone with boards and nails and hammering and power tools along with a compressor inside. I mean, it couldn't have been a lot more of a construction zone without pulling a floor or a wall out of the house. It would have been very helpful to simply be clear about that so we can schedule our day and childcare around the work. It was spring break that week so we have little recourse other than suffering through it.
3) mold: it seems like the installers need a lesson in black mold. We took this project because we had a mold issue in our master bedroom. As they were installing the window in question, there was an obvious black mold and rot issue at the frame level. This should have been brought to our attention and simply worked through, but my wife had to scream at the installer and kick them out of our house so we could manage the issue while we had access. Please don't go telling your clients that black rotting wood is not mold. yes, it's normal, but I wanted to fix that exact issue with replacing my windows.
4) low e coatings: this is my fault for not going inside a house with these windows, but we feel robbed of the light that we were paying more to improve. We went with full window replacements to get 20% more light, but now I have 35% emissivity glass meaning I paid to lose 65% of my sunlight. I could have managed this expectation of it was presented at the quoting phase, but instead I'm left just feeling at a loss and considering replacing everything myself over the next 5 years. I hate that I have to feel that way now, and I wish I had known about such a huge loss of light. Matt told me this somehow acts differently in the summer and winter; I simply don't believe it.
6) working with us instead of against us: throughout the installation, there was a pressure to finish on time. I get it, as there is no financial incentive to wait around. This nearly ended the whole project though and if we could have scheduled the install differently, we could have managed so many more surprises.
7) windows : the product is actually quite nice. I'm super happy we had them installed and replaced as a full window as the final results look great, open well aside for a few adjustments initially, and they are keeping the house cool this summer. We may need to replace any that were paired with clear glass older windows, but if you can stomach all the issues we had above, I would recommend getting these windows for your house. It feels like a better and better decision as we live with them. We have all casement windows, so I can only comment on that type.

My husband and I totally recommend Apex Energy windows!! We just replaced our original windows (almost 40yrs old) to Apex, and we can really see the difference. My heater is working only for 1/3 of what it did before replacement. Douglas, the sales person, always answer any questions or requests we have ASAP. All the windows and patio door replacement was done within 3 days, and replacement team was really professional! 100 satisfied with Apex Energy!!

We recently had our windows replaced by Apex and are very impressed. The sales staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They ran numerous scenarios and went out of their way to ensure we had all the information necessary to make a decision. The windows were a custom order and arrived on time for installation. The install team was wonderful. They completed the install with care and the utmost professionalism and pride. We couldn’t be happier with the craftsmanship and the noticeable improvement!

As a happy client of Apex Energy Solutions, I'm excited to share my experience with the company. We moved into our new house last summer and started to notice some of our windows were icing and leaking as we headed into our first winter. We were lucky enough to have Steve Oravacz stop by at just the right time.
Steve was incredibly informative, taking the time to explain the benefits of different window options. We ultimately decided to replace three large picture windows with new sliders, and Apex Energy Solutions' pricing was very reasonable, including a great warranty. They were understanding and accommodating, allowing us the time to make a decision that worked best for our budget.
This spring, as promised, we were contacted to install the windows. Mark and his team were fantastic! They were friendly, helpful, and did a great job. They even took the extra step to put down tarps to protect our home and left the space clean and tidy.
The new windows have made a significant difference in the way we use our spaces, and we're thrilled with the quality of the windows and the installation. We plan to use Apex Energy Solutions again to replace the windows in our other bedrooms. Overall, I highly recommend Apex Energy Solutions for anyone looking for quality windows and exceptional customer service.

What a great window buying experience! From the informational meeting with our sales rep, to the measuring appointment, to the install, this was a very easy and pleasant experience in buying windows. We had Apex replace seven of 13 windows in our home, and will do the rest very soon. we had them retrofit the interior to keep the look in our home. The exterior is a huge improvement over the 1950s windows we had before. Great product, great service, great windows. And the tax credits are the cherry on top!

Windows are great, we can tell the different and are very happy with the product. The installers did a great job, worked around our toddlers naps as well and were very clean and efficient. We had some roadblocks come up but the company owner (Matt) rectified everything and wasn't satisfied until we were satisfied. I would recommend Apex for windows to anybody. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the sales process. The salesperson was not knowledgeable about the trim options for the windows and doors, did not have samples to show either and this led to problems (that were quickly rectified by the owner to a good outcome), but the sales person was very unprofessional when the issue came up, made false accusations and came up with excuses to try and pin the blame on us.
Despite the issues, the windows are great, the company owner and installers are great to work with and the windows did great through their first MN winter. Absolutely check out Apex if you need new windows, just make sure you ask a lot of questions up front in the sales process.

If anyone is thinking about getting new windows, Apex Windows just installed new windows in two rooms in our house, as well as installing a full view glass door. We highly recommend them. The products are top of the line and the service exceeds anything we have experienced lately. They do what they say they’ll do when they say they’ll do it. It’s hard to find people who take this good care of you.

Our new windows completely transformed our sun room. We had multiple casement windows before and now we have lovely large picture windows. The room is warmer and quieter with the new windows. It was -14F this morning and the windows were not cold to touch.
Install team was polite and professional and did a great job even in the dead of winter. We can’t wait to get our other windows replaced!
