I love these guys! They have worked on our old house for years and installed the new furnace and humidity unit. They are professional and helpful and good guys. They talked me through changing a blow fuse after attempting to change out a thermostat, and only teased me a little. Just another example of small local businesses being the best option!
I could not recommend this company more. I called this morning about my AC not working well, Vance came out diagnosed the issue replaced it in less than an hour and now we are enjoying a cool house. Wonderful experience and will be recommending them to all my friends and family!

My 17 yr old Lennox furnace went out a month ago (Jan 2024). I researched highly rated HVAC companies in Missoula, not paying attention to whether they were "sponsored" or not. The first company, Garden City, sent a tech out - a$98 service call - who declared a cracked heat exchange, disabled my furnace and determined it needed replacing. The bid was 19K which included an (unnecessary) electrical upgrade. I got 2 other pricey bids and then on a friend's recommendation called Graybeal.
Vance, the owner of Graybeal, came out with his assistant Dennis, hooked up the wires that had been clipped by Garden City and started it up. He told me my heat exchange was fine, that I had maybe another 15 yrs of life on it. They diagnosed the problem as a $42 part needing replacement and an additional return vent to balance the air flow and prevent further overheating.
They were honest, polite, timely, and my furnace is working way better than it ever has. As an older, single woman, I really appreciate being treated honestly. Three other companies were ready to sell me a new one at $12-19K. It saved me a fortune. Vance & Dennis were a pleasure to work with - HONEST and KNOWLEDGEABLE.

First of all. I’d recommend ignoring most IF NOT ALL the negative reviews below. The negative reviewers either don’t know what HVAC means or just happened to call the wrong professional service for their needs. If you have a legitimate HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) System!! Key word here is System people. Graybeal are the GO TO CREW for me as a property manager that manages several good old Missoula rentals. Typical older furnaces and A/C units tucked away in typical Missoula crawl spaces. I’ve had 3 furnaces go out in the last 2 years and these guys have saved me every time!! They were there within hours when needed (twice on weekend in -15 degrees) when literally NO ONE ELSE would even bother answering their phones. They saved me from having to put tenants up in hotels to keep them warm. They’ll take their time and get the job done right and at the most affordable price possible. Honestly, these guys deserve some credit for what they do for people. Especially during cold snaps like we’ve had the last few years. When heat goes out during a subzero weekend at 2AM in the morning and you have heat the next morning staying warm. You’d thank your HVAC guys too I’d bet.

We got a new furnace and AC - what I like most about Graybeal is they are very analytical in their approach, rather than simply replacing like-for-like. Their expertise saved us money and made our system more efficient. Our furnace is located in a very tight spot behind lots of plumbing, but they got it out and replaced in a few hours no problem. The whole team has been nice and respectful whenever I interact with them.

Graybeal Heating & Air Conditioning installed the new HVAC system in a spec home we purchased here in Missoula. We had a blank screen issue with the thermostat about 14 months after moving into the home. I phoned the number for Graybeal about 7:45 AM on a Friday morning, Vance answered and had the thermostat diagnosed within a couple minutes. He brought a new thermostat by, helped me reprogram it and had us up and going within an hour after first speaking to him. Vance is a straight up guy, the kind you just like doing business with. I'm the type that looks for the experts point of view and I'd take Vance's advice on HVAC systems any day. I'm happy to recommend Vance and his business.

Vance, and his assistant Dawn, did a great job on the recent installation of my new furnace! I am very happy with the price and quality of RUDD. I plan to use Graybeal for yearly maintenance cleanings.

I had a 56 year old furnace that I wanted to replace before it failed on me next winter. I called Graybeal on a recommendation from a fellow who worked for NW Energy. Rick came over on the same day, worked out some measurements, and answered several questions I had about pros and cons of various systems. Later that day he sent me a breakdown of costs for all the different options. I ended up going with a 96% RUUD furnace and we scheduled an appointment for install three weeks later. The guys came out, did a wonderful job on the install, and left the house spotless. The new furnace is so much quieter and the house maintains a steady temperature. I highly recommend Graybeal. Great crew and straightforward business approach.

Our Furnace stopped working so we called Graybeal Heating. They had someone at our house in no time! Instead of trying to sell us a new furnace, they were honest and had the ability to repair the current unit within minutes. The technician also explained that our unit was in great shape and should last another 5-8 years. I will Highly recommend Graybeal Heating to all my family and friends.
