We got home late after dinner last night, and our keypad deadbolt died as soon as we went to enter the code to unlock our door. It never gave any sort of low battery indication. The house key was inside hanging up by the door. Couldn’t get in my garage to get my ladder because the key and opener for that was also in the house. Drove to my father-in-law’s to borrow his ladder, climbed up on the roof hoping one of the sky lights would be unlocked. Of course they weren’t. After checking every window over and over for 2 hours, and then staring at the windshield of my car for 20 minutes in denial about needing a locksmith, we searched on Google to find someone local.

What I didn’t know, was the amount of locksmith scams there are out there. Very sketchy about quotes and ETAs, countless 5-star reviews with generic Google pictures that were clearly fake. After going through 2 different “locksmiths” we finally found Al through a Facebook post. Save yourself 3+ hours that I wasted and call Al's Lock Service. He arrived within 30 minutes, had the door unlocked within 10 minutes, and gave us 2 new spares for a reasonable price. Finally got inside around midnight. What a way to end a long relaxing weekend away! ?
