Metropolis crushed our move out from 5th floor walk up yesterday. Dozens of boxes and bags expertly packed and expediently unloaded. The whole process was easy and totally worth it.
Communication before and during was a real plus. Would recommend to anyone willing to make sure that its done right.
there is no doubt that these Google reviews are fake. Or the company paid people to write good reviews. There is absolutely no way people would rate this company with five stars. Firstly, they showed up eight hours late for a scheduled move. They were scheduled to arrive at 2 PM from our Brooklyn apartment. As it got later and later, we kept calling the movers because nobody from the back office was returning our call and the movers kept saying they would be here in an hour, and then another hour, and then another hour and then another hour. It just went on until 11 PM. now it is too late for us to get to our storage unit and we have to be moving in to our suburban home at 3 AM in the morning. I’m sure this will be a disturbance to the neighbors as well. Due to all of this ridiculous malpractice from this terribly disorganized and completely unresponsive company we were not able to have the cleaning service come in and do a cleaning after we moved out of our apartment which I’m sure will result in the landlord keeping a portion of our security deposit. This has been the worst nightmare and I’m virtually in tears. The company’s outgoing voicemail suggests that you send them an email for all inquiries, other than a quote, yet they leave no email address that they can be contacted at. They have no emergency phone number to use after they close at 5 PM, but they certainly don’t have a problem sending their movers eight hours late at 11 PM. do yourself a huge favor and run far away from this company. We got an estimate at piece of cake movers who I knew were a wonderful company and my family has used them multiple times but this company gave a better quote and especially if we paid them in advance. I am kicking myself that I paid this horrible company a single dollar it’s been truly the worst move of my life. Do not and I do not even think of hiring this shotty operation. They are crooks. use piece of cake movers they are fabulous and worth every penny!

Metropolis Moving recently moved my daughter's 1 bedroom apartment to a storage unit. They were efficient, communicative and patient with a first time mover. Everyone was so nice from the people in the office to the movers themselves. The communication was super clear and the rates were very reasonable. We will definitely be using them again when she makes her next move.

Really great experience with Metropolis, over multiple encounters/moves, both for moving almost an entire apartment, and also having a piece of furniture delivered from a store. Very reasonable rates, prompt responses, clear communication. Very nice guys, thorough. They wrap everything very carefully and really take the time to make sure everything goes exactly where you want it, and they help assemble furniture carefully. I had a giant piece of furniture that did not quite fit around the curve of the top of my stairs, but on first attempt, they really tried everything they could to get it into my apartment. When we realized it was not going to fit, they offered to store the piece at their facility so that I could have a contractor take down my railing, and they later delivered the piece successfully on a different day. Very heavy/large piece, but nothing was damaged. Honest, capable, strong, nice, careful, real people. It feels as if you are dealing with actual humans and not a company. I would definitely use them again, and recommend them to anyone, for any type of move. Thank you Metropolis Moving for all your help!

I've been a loyal Metropolis mover client - used Metropolis for 3 moves now, and recommended friends/family to use them because they're professional, communicative, and have great customer service. They are also pretty fair in pricing, and especially with loose items and last minute additions to my inventory they've been really kind at adjusting the quote fairly.
My most recent move was only within the neighborhood, but the movers got everything out and done under 2 hours which was amazing. Shout out to Zach, Ricky, and Mike for being fast, efficient, and funny (!) movers. :) Will use them again!

Hired these guys twice. The first time was fine: a move from a Long Island storage unit to a storage unit in the Upper East Side. 4hrs door-to-door, arriving perfectly within the time frame, nothing broken. Took only two guys.
The second time, they sent 3 guys for the same amount of items to move from the UES storage unit to a new luxury building in LIC. Long story short, they gave me an arrival between 12pm-3pm for arrival and didn't even arrive until 4:35pm. This caused issues down the line that I cant even begin to describe, but here's some: I had to make last minute arrangements to get the freight elevator reservation extended, risk pissing off the doorman, rebook my flight that I was supposed to be on at 9pm in the evening evening (since this was a cross country move with me selling the property) back out-of-state, etc.
I had to load half of my stuff on moving dollies to help them expedite things when they finally did arrive. Because they had arrived so late, they hit rush hour traffic. What was supposed to be a 2h max move from storage unit to apartment ended up being a 3.5hr annoyance.
"But didn't we sort things out with the discount?"
Great! The company did, but that segués into why I'm writing this review, now that I've finally gotten around to putting things together and unboxing my stuff.
Sorry to say, but that $125 or whatever discount isn't going to cover the damages here in the photos, which is the main reason why I'm writing this here. I forgot to mention that your lovely movers dropped pieces of the cabinet in front of me, but at that time, I had thought no damage was done. That headboard was also dropped when they attempted to move it out of the storage unit enroute to the truck. I've got more furniture to throw together, so this is kind of just the start.
And Jack, you have a horrible sense of time. Don't say "Closer to 2pm" then follow that up with "It's looking like 4pm" before finally showing up at 4:35pm. Don't tell me ETA is around 6pm but there's traffic when you're finally pulling up to the apartment at 6:38pm. There are apps that give you truck routes even if Google Maps does not. Next time, instead of doing a rush job and breaking my stuff, communicate with dispatch and have them figure out how to handle customer service properly. Again, don't blame it on the Brooklyn move that was before mine with the parking/1 closet-sized elevator situation.
Give me a call, Corey, when you see this. You have my number on file.

I had a small move, but will need a larger one in the future. I will definitely call Metropolis. Making an appointment was easy, and they were very flexible on the day and time. They showed up on time, and were very courteous and professional. They wrapped up the furniture, closed up open boxes and loaded things up very quickly. My move was out of state but not too far away. They arrived in a timely fashion, unloaded quickly, taking heavy items both up and down stairs, and were gone very quickly. I highly recommended these guys.
