I did not have a chose in using this firm. My designer chose. If I had knowledge of this before the engineering was done I would have insisted on another firm.
These jerks held up my remodel for over a month when all I needed was a "yes" or "no" from them and a 1 line supporting document to show the city. Then they changed me for the 'plan change' and then again for the documentation.
They use a generic 1 size fits all call out spec sheet that is very had to follow. My contractors literally shuttered at the sight of his engineering stamp. They told me to expect an up hill battle because they had been on jobs engineered by Don Sherman before.
Their staff is just what the other reviews say. They are condescending, and self righteous. I at one point had to arrange an in office meeting with Don Sherman. While I was less that 10 feet way, and in clear sight, he told the person on the phone how stupid and ignorant I was (in his mind).
Now that we are finally able to over forward with our project; that was supposed to be finished 1 month BEFORE our son was born, my wife and 2 month old son will have to stay with relatives until the sheetrock, mudding, sanding, texturing, and painting can be completed.
DO NOT USE THEM!!! YOU WILL END UP FRUSTRATED, OVER BILLED, AND MONTHS BEHIND ON YOUR PROJECT!!!!!

Sherman Engineering is crucial to the success of our home design business. We have worked with many structural engineers - we feel Sherman Engineering is the best in town!

Completely useless in the engineering of our home. Don was not only not detail oriented, he was arrogant and very delinquent in completing his work. I would not recommend this firm to anyone for any job.

I called Sherman Engineers to help with a home remodel project because they were involved in some previous work done to the house. I managed to set up a meeting with Don and Julia and they said they were a few weeks out on availability, That worked for me so I told them to proceed with the work. After almost two months, I stent them an email and received no response. Several weeks after that I still have heard nothing back from them despite emailing again. When I called I was able to get somebody on the phone who said Don and Julia were not available and he had no idea about my project. He said they would call me back, but no call has come.
I know construction is really busy right now, but communication is key to any relationship. The least they could do is tell me I have been bumped for a larger project and give me a new ETA. They have put my project three months behind schedule now and I have nothing to show for it. I am deeply dissatisfied with Sherman Engineers and I hope that this review will help anybody who is looking for an engineer to look elsewhere first.
