Ryan, Nick and the rest of the team at Catalyst Construction carried out a complete remodel of our basement for us and we couldn't be happier with the results.
Our project was to create a comfortable and inviting guest suite and also to have a storage area and laundry.
To give you a sense of the scope of the work: we had a seismic retrofit, waterproofing (French drains and dry wells), new water line, tiling, electricals, lighting, painting, the installation of a gas fireplace, custom cabinets and countertops, kitchenette, plumbing, whole house water filtration system, eucalyptus hardwood flooring, ducting and new air conditioning, a new egress window with a custom poured concrete tiered window well, insulation and new windows. So, basically, everything from scratch!
The team were able to realize the ideas that I had in my head and come up with great solutions that all really came together to look beautiful. Ryan was very receptive to all the little details that were important to us and he was enthusiastic about getting them right. It's clear to me that he and the whole team understand the importance of the little things that make a big impact and for that I'm deeply appreciative of all of their efforts.
When some unexpected things came up (for example, it was discovered that we had rotted footings on our support columns and also that a previous owner had removed a section of support beam(!)), costs and time to repair these things were very reasonable, the work was top notch and the solutions were creative and clever.
During the project we wanted a few extra things added and Ryan and the team were very flexible about making these things happen.
We're thrilled with the final result and would not hesitate to recommend Catalyst Construction. Great people, excellent Portland business :).
Special shout out to Nick, his amazing woodworking skills and all-round awesomeness, Mike's wonderful work ethic and Bruce's "holey" work!
I recently had the pleasure of working with Catalyst Construction and Remodeling on a home project that included a basement remodel, bathroom renovation, and the addition of a small addition enclosing our back porch and inside new entry to the basement. I am very pleased with the results and the overall experience. Catalyst Construction demonstrated excellent project management skills. Timelines were adhered to, and any unforeseen challenges were addressed promptly and efficiently. Ryan was very competitive with his initial pricing and was fair with any added costs. He also worked closely, and patiently with us to achieve the design aspects we were looking for. Nick was great to work with and was easy to get ahold of to address any issues or to answer my questions. we love the results and will be contacting you again for any future work. Thanks again!

Worked with Ryan and his team for a while on a home addition and electrical system upgrade. Ryan was communicative throughout the process from initial ideas to punchlist. It was nice getting to know each separate team and sub, and they were all skilled, professional, and kind. I recommend giving them a call if you're looking for easy work to complex work. Update: adding some pics to show the new sunroom and addition exteriors. They did a beautiful job, truly!

We were recommended to Catalyst Construction from a family friend, and they didn’t disappoint!
Ryan and Catalyst completed an extensive remodel of our 1950s ranch to expectation. The team was wonderful to work with from site visit and bid, through demo & construction and until final inspection. Ryan is easy to communicate with, sets expectations/timelines, and honest throughout the project.
Main scope of work included a demo of fireplace/chimney roof to basement, installed two support beams: main level & basement, kitchen remodel, basement remodel w/ egress window, oak flooring, etc. We were pleased with Ryan's entire crew and ALL subcontractors.
We look forward to working with Catalyst again on any future projects!

Nick and crew converted our 1925 basement into a family room with workout area, additional much-needed storage, and added new stairs. The team did a fantastic job from start to finish. The sub contractors were also top-notch and very courteous. Any design changes were handled with ease and done so at a reasonable cost. We couldn't be happier with end result. Highly recommended!
