It was about 4 years ago that Hamish Murray was recommended to us by a local architect. At that time we were planning an 800 sq foot addition to our 1923 home. With that project we ended up choosing a different contractor because Hamish Murray’s estimate came in a little higher than we could afford at the time. For so many reasons we regretted that decision, and when it came time to remodel the front of our home we wanted to give Hamish Murray a second shot. From the very beginning we knew Hamish Murray and their employees were more than a step above the rest. Their responsiveness to phone calls and emails was impeccable and we would continue to be reminded that their time lines are not something they take lightly. At the start of the project, we were given a 1 hour sit down with Hamish, and our project manager to fine tune the estimate and see where we could cut some cost to make the project work for us. We were so grateful for this meeting, and knew we could trust this company had an understanding of our needs and budget. This specific project has included a full kitchen remodel, removing a load bearing wall, and moving another wall to make our daughters bedroom larger. Jason Zerba has been our project manager and our advocate from day one. I’d like to stress how vital Jason was for my husband and I, in keeping the stress of doing a home remodel at a zero. I quickly learned that Jason and HMs standard is perfection. If there was a task that needed creative thinking and problem solving, I knew that Jason had our backs and would settle for nothing short of perfect. There is a frequent saying that I throw around in our home which is “eh, good enough for our house”. Apparently this was not something that HM or Jason subscribed to. Jason has been an active participant on the job site overseeing all of the subs, and quickly catching anything that wasn’t completed in a way that would get the HM stamp of approval. As I mention subs, I’d like to also point out that each sub was wonderful and we’d have them back in a heartbeat. Workers showed up on time at 7:30 each morning. They were friendly and entertained our questions and curiosity about the work they were doing. It was clear that subs and employees working for HM have a positive longstanding relationship with the company. They even cleaned up after themselves! If you want to work with a company that is extremely knowledge about home remodel, trustworthy, punctual, and overall a step above the rest, I’d highly recommend Hamish Murray. It has been a pleasure having them in our home, and I don’t think we’ll ever do a project without them again.

Hamish Murray did an incredible job on our home renovation, upgrading our kitchen and adding on a new bedroom and bathroom. We know it was a busy time for everyone, with supply chain disruptions and people booked to the max, and their project management kept the project going and on time. They were very professional and were responsive to us. Anytime we had a concern, they worked to alleviate our questions and provide a plan and updated timetable. All of this while still staying close to their original completion date and maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship. As soon as we settled back in after the completion of the project, it felt like the house should have always been this way. We have more than enough space, and everything is so functional - our kitchen is incredible! The kids are loving having their own spaces as well, and we thank you deeply for making this project a reality. We would recommend Hamish Murray and we would use them again in the future for additional work on our house.

Hamish Murray Construction recently completed our remodel project in Nob Hill and the process was seamless from bidding through punch list. They kept the project running on time and on budget. Communication and organization were excellent. The Project Managers were on top of everything including some complex custom millwork and metal work. I look forward to working with Hamish Murray again and recommend their work for anyone considering a home renovation.

We had an amazing experience with Hamish Murray Construction from start to finish. We closed in a patio space to create a home gym and a storage area and it looks absolutely amazing. Everyone we worked with was professional and work was done quickly. The point person checked in with us on a regular basis lettering us know each step of the process. They were quick to answer any questions we had an even worked with us to make the project fit our budget. They are a fabulous company to work with and we would (and have) recommended them to anyone.

Hamish Murray built us our dream home. When we bought our house in SE Division area back in 2001 we knew we loved the view and thought the neighborhood would improve. Fast forward 20 years and we reached a point in life where we could afford to turn our place into what we always knew it could be. Hamish Murray was extremely flexible when it came to the bidding process and the various hoops we had to jump through to for the bank to finance our construction loan (check out Clackamas County Bank.) With Hamish Murray the price they quoted you is the price you’re going to pay. While we made them suffer through countless change orders as we added mid-project upgrades, never did I hear that something was going to cost more than was originally quoted. I grew up working on wooden boats and old houses on the east coast, so often when I look at modern construction it doesn’t feel like it has the same craftsman attention to detail as you’d see in early 20th century work. That’s not the case with Hamish Murray. The subs they used cared deeply about their craft and you can tell in every corner. If something looked at all sloppy, it was redone without question or cost to me. Concrete was re-poured, cabinets were repainted - the level of quality assurance was what you’d expect out of a builder making their own home. Every morning as I have my coffee I feel like I’m on vacation in a fancy boutique hotel, but its my kitchen! Every night as tuck in the kids and lock up, I feel like I’m already in a dream. Hamish Murray made it happen, and we’re deeply thankful.
