I really wanted to like Black's Pest Services and support a local family business but after a multiple emails with other customers full names, addresses and last 4 of their cards on file and a very alarming experience with their employee I felt compelled to write a review here to share.
We purchased a new home that had quite a spider problem and were in the market for pest control as the basic home defense spray wasn’t doing the trick. I didn’t see much improvement after their first visit and spray outside so after about a month I reached back out and spoke with the receptionist regarding my concerns and she was very kind and got someone right back out within a few days!
The employee showed up to my house and started off our interaction stating there were no notes and wanted to know what he was here for. Interestingly enough this was the same employee who was here for the first visit and spray but nevertheless I let him know we hadn’t seen improvements from his initial visit. He mentions at that point he’s going to spray the inside of my home which was not done to begin with because I have a baby who is about to begin crawling and most pest companies I spoke with advised avoiding indoor sprays if you have young children at all costs. Out of worry and concerns for my baby I was asking him safety questions and was met with a very rude demeanor. He seemed to be very bothered and gave me very short and snarky responses. As I watched him begin spraying around my home he was quite honestly flicking this spray throughout my home and made ZERO attempts to keep any of the pest spray near where the floor meets the wall. There were some places it went almost to the middle of my hallway so I politely asked him if he could please keep the spray closer to where the wall meets the floor reiterating that I have a baby who is about to be on the move and we mop regularly so I want to make sure that treatment is effective, not removed by regular mopping or far away from the walls where she could potentially have direct contact with this. This man looked me dead in the eye and said he didn’t have the wrist agility to do what I was asking, said I should only mop with water if I have an issue with it and proceeded to walk around me and do exactly what I was asking him not to do! At this point I again addressed this man stating if he can’t do what I am asking and showing blatant disregard for my valid concerns of safety and effectiveness what am I paying for? Without hesitation this employee of Black’s Pest Services raised his voice and said I’d be refunded and stormed out of my house slamming my door and aggressively ripping off his shoe covers while his spray can slams on my entry steps.
It was not only frightening to be home alone as a woman and experience this unhinged behavior of an adult male but it's absolutely infuriating to be treated with such disregard and disrespect. Our children's safety should be of the utmost concern for this company and their employees. Employees going into people’s homes should never behave the way this individual did. I called to report this alarming situation to the company and let them know the entire thing was recorded through my security systems. While the woman on the phone did seem very shocked to hear what had transpired, not once did this employee's manager or the owner reach out to address this. That in itself I believe speaks volumes about this company and their morals. I will never do business with this company again and I will go to great lengths to ensure this message is shared for the safety of other families. This is not okay and I’d hate to see what happened if I wasn’t here to monitor all the places he would had sprayed pest chemicals throughout my home.
Great response time and the technician walked us through every step. Wrapped up the service the service call with his findings and next steps. Highly recommend. Removed two Norway Rats from our crawl space.

I cannot say enough good about both Sarah and Bernard; my experience was exceptional. I unfortunately had a very difficult raccoon infestation; mother and three cubs in my attic that were well hidden and inaccessible. Bernard came up with a very experienced strategy to force them out so they could be handled. It took several visits and they are now all safely gone. His professionalism, patience, and responsiveness is world class. I will forever go to them whenever I have any pest or rodent problem.

Black's Pest Services quick response saved our Halloween! They removed a rather large deceased raccoon that laid himself to rest under our front porch. Not the smell you want to greet your Trick or Treaters! Thank you Bernard for your prompt and efficient service.

Bernard came out to our property with multiple buildings and a home the day after contacting him. Very professional and knowledgeable. It's been a week since his visit and our elder beetle, stink bug and spider issues are gone! So glad our neighbor referred us to Black's. I highly recommend!

Would highly recommend Black's Pest Services. I'm happy to support a local family business who does quality work. Bryce and Bernard came out to treat my property for a big spider problem. So far, we've seen no spiders in the house. Signed up for the quarterly service moving forward. Bernard is a UC Berkeley educated Pest Management expert who has deep knowledge about the animals that could be in and around your home. Happy to have a bug-free home thanks to Black's Pest Services.

I called Black's Pest Services with a silverfish and spider problem. I was told that silverfish are near impossible to get rid of by another pest control company so I had my doubts. Bernard came out and put my fears at ease, the silverfish were nearly all gone after one treatment. He is very easy to work with and I highly recommend his services.
