We had been content with our service for years until a piece of equipment failed. A simple smoke detector would cost us $150 to replace. You can get one for $20 at Lowe's but of course compatible to your system is more costly. But why does Altronics charge $150 when several other competitors charge $30 to $40 and is compatible to their systems. One provider even offers free replacement for the life of your service. And to all of the customers who have cameras utilizing "Video link", be aware you are broadcasting an OPEN ACCESS POINT to your internet service. Go to your available wifi connections and simply click on video link....instant internet, no password. I presented this problem to them 9 months ago and again 4 months ago, but no one knew about it. How do you claim to be the "most technologically advanced' security system and do absolutely nothing to fix a clear invasion on security. So never got a resolution. Did simple research myself. A simple work around in your WiFi broadcasting settings will resolve it. You're welcome Altronics Tech Support for the resolution, so go talk to your customers like you are capable and on top of things. As for me, I have shopped Simplisafe, Cove, Frontpoint, ADT, Ring, Vivint, Brink's, Guardian Protection, and several others. Most provide a full system of cameras, sensors and detectors for the cost of 2 smoke detectors from Altronics, maybe 3 detectors depending on your needs. Quarterly monitoring for most is less expensive and provide the same cell backup in case of outages. So less monthly cost, same monitoring services, covered equipment or at least cheaper to replace...leaving is a decision we should have done long ago. The world has gotten bigger since Royal Security and Altronics began overcharging their local communities 35-50 years ago. Customers have more alternatives and no longer have to rely on the mom and pop shop. I hate to say that statement because I support small, local businesses but not when they choose to take advantage. Time for us to move on. I can't wait to hear Altronics response with service plans that cost you more money so you can get a discount on equipment. Unless you break like 3 or 4 pieces of equipment per year, it's not worth it. The system tells you when something isn't working. I don't need to spend $175 to be told something isn't receiving signal so I can get a 50% discount on an overpriced piece of equipment, that even with the discount is still overpriced. Oh and their billing department will do everything to try and beat you and keep money due to you. Had a problem with a falsified past due balance that collected interest, they tried to take us to court. Luckily, I had all notes, records, and receipts. How did it feel having your manager stutter like a fool, shuffling thru account history and not being able to back up his claims? Lack of competency all around. Take this review as you see fit, but my Altronics lawn sign is in the garbage. Thank you, next.

Just had Altronics install a home security system, two outdoor cameras and two smoke detectors. I was very pleased with the process, and the results. As a small business owner myself, it’s important to me to support other local small businesses for my needs. I can now rest assured knowing my family is safe. I’m excited to be able to monitor the systems with the use of the app on my phone. Highly recommend using Altronics for all your home or business security needs.

I'll say I deal with this company about 3 times a week. And its like dealing with Romper Room. I do not know how they are still in business. Another reviewer stated, they would be charged to upgrade because of switching phone providers. This is the ONLY company that does this. If it would even need to be truly upgraded, you've either had your system 40 years, or more likely they used old technology at the time of install. Every installer I've met, spends more time defending the owner, for his mistakes. He'll yell at you on the phone, but he won't come to the site. Telephone tough guy. You've been warned.

Never had a problem with them for 8 years. They kept raising the price each year by exactly 3%, but that's understandable. Then we renewed recently for the whole year, and just after that, our income went down quite a bit, so some things had to go. We substituted a different phone service to save money, and the alarm system stopped working, which would have required a service call and a payment of $399 for a new system. Since the purpose was to save money, we cancelled the service instead, a week before the renewal year was about to begin. They sent us a check back, but they kept $80 of the renewal fee, just for the hell of it. When we questioned it, they said that "we were in breech of contract". Umm, no, the contract didn't even start yet. Jeez. Needless to say, we're eating the $80, because it's just not worth the headache. We always send in our payments with plenty of time to spare. In this case, it was just over 2 weeks early. If we had waited two days before we wrote the check, we wouldn't be writing this review, since we wouldn't be out the $80, because we never would've sent in the renewal fee. Really sleazy.
