We first saw their product at the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Expo. The presentation was genuine and informative. We liked that the company was family owned and local. We scheduled an estimate and the gentleman was on time and not a pushy salesman. They had tons of fabrics to choose from and didn’t try to sell things we didn’t need. The awning arrived within the promised time frame. The installers were friendly and professional. They took the time to determine the best location for the awning placement. Once installed they explained how it operated and the steps for winter care. We couldn’t be happier with our retractable awning. It is absolutely perfect. We would recommend them to everyone! Quality work at an affordable price!

The quality of the awning is fine. However, the service is horrible. It is now the end of May and we still don’t have our awning put up. When you call to ask, they can’t even give you a timeline. This is not the first time this has happened. We will no longer be using their service to put up and take down the awning. Picture taken 5/25/2023… still with no awning.

I've been a customer for 5 years now...until today. They came out a few weeks ago to install my awning, I was out of town on business and the installers told my wife that the metal clips that hold the awning in place would need to be replaced prior to install. They did not have the clips with them so they left without installing my awning. I called twice and left messages over the following two weeks, they finally got back to me today and quoted me $150 for the clips/install and an additional $125 for the awning install. I asked why it was so expensive for the 6 little inexpensive metal clips and was told it wasn't for the clips it was for the service call. When I mentioned that they would already be here to install the awning and that I felt that the price was high considering, they wouldn't budge and the owner chimed in from the background and agreed to drop the awning off to me so I could find someone else to install it. The awning was delivered to my house a few hours later. So...either they made a special trip to drop off my awning or they were already in the area and wanted to rake me over the coals for another $150...either way they lost a loyal customer. Also worth mentioning, it's not the clips that needed to be replaced it's the bolts that hold the clips on.

When we decided that we were looking for a roof-mounted, retractable awning, there a lot of choices out there, including some you already know (Sunsetter) and some that are quite shady (no pun intended). Working with Affordable Tents & Awnings was the best decision that we could have made. Josh provided a quick, same-day estimate that was fair and not pushy at all. We love that this is a family-owned and local company. Our awning was made right here in Pittsburgh. When the installers arrived, they explained everything really well and answered all of our questions. They provided a very thorough walk-thru of the awning’s operation and offered a lot of advice on how to maintain it. The craftsmanship is second to none and their warranty is one of the best we’ve seen. Do yourself a favor and call them first - you won’t be disappointed.

I am retracting my initial positive review of this company. Initially the installation was great and we're happy with the awning. They removed the awning for storage in November and put it back up in early April as we requested. However, things have gone south from there. When we purchased the awning we requested November take down and early April to reinstall and they assured us this is not a problem. Then out of the blue I receive this letter in the mail. The product is good but if you're looking for storage service - stay away!
