Karen was the designer for a recent project of mine. She assisted our mutual client with all the design elements for a whole house renovation, from paint colors to cabinet layouts to bathroom finishes. As the contractor, my crew executed the plan. Karen was positive and helpful throughout the process. She’s a breeze to work with and makes the whole project easier for me and the client. I look forward to working with her on many more to come!

We were very pleased with our recent excellent color consultation with Karen Goodlow, who helped us pick out the exterior paint colors for our house. Karen was highly recommended by Nash Painting (our painters) and her fees are reasonable, so we decided to give her a try. Even though I am an artist/painter, I always have trouble visualizing what will look good based upon small paint chips and we have made serious and costly errors in the past. Our house is a Tudor Revival built in 1940. The brick on the first floor is pretty, but it has multiple colors including deep pinkish and brownish reds, golds and charcoal, plus the roof is gray/green, all of which make color selection complicated. We wanted to maintain the historical character of the home and did not want to paint the brick, so we were happy that both Karen and the Nash Painting sales rep agreed with us on that. The second and third floors are stucco with wooden slats. The current color scheme was a monotone pale beige on all painted surfaces that looked good and made the house feel somewhat contemporary, but we now wanted to emphasize the classic architectural features of the home by having contrasting colors. I greatly enjoyed working with Karen as she was never pushy and instead gently guided and nudged me towards making great color choices. She listened to what we were hoping to achieve and helped us to manifest it. Together, we found a neutral slightly darker/warmer beige for the stucco, a rich dark brown for the roofline woodwork, corbels and slats, a medium bronze color for the windows and doors except for the front door, where we used a charcoal brown color. After our in-person meeting at the house where we viewed color chips next to the brick, Karen had full sheets of all the selections shipped to us within a few days so that we could see them in a larger format. I am truly grateful that we had Karen’s assistance with choosing our paint colors so that for the first time I did not worry about making bad decisions that would need to be redone. The new colors truly enhance the brick colors and character of the house and make us feel like we have moved into a new home! Without asking, several neighbors have spontaneously told us how much they love how the house looks now. We are so happy with how everything turned out and I would use Karen’s services again in a heartbeat!!! (Before and after photos are included here.)

Karen did a great job helping me choose just the right color for the exterior paint of our house. She is very professional and takes her time to make sure the color is perfect and coordinates with all other exterior surfaces. Her eye for seeing tones and shades is amazing. I would highly recommend her color analysis expertise!
