I absolutely recommend Abacus Construction for residential home repair! Daniela was fantastic to work with, very responsive and completed everything so quickly with high quality finished product. As an out of town landlord, having trustworthy contractors on call is so important and I’m glad I found Abacus for future needs!
They are the best at what they do! They are super professional, they communicate throughout the entire process and all their workers are very respectful. I recommend Abacus to anyone who needs to do renovation projects in their home or finish their basement. They have good prices and are very honest.

Six full months have passed since the completion of our basement by Abacus. I wanted to wait some time to post a review to have actual backing instead of posting right after the project was done. Daniela and Henry sat down with both, my wife and I, and went over the details of a basement that would be suitable for my soon to be 80 year old mother.
They were both invested in the important details of building this basement in order to make my mothers life as comfortable as possible. From widening the door frames (for my mothers walker and possible wheel chair) to the height of the countertops and remarkable quality both in material and craftsmanship. Six months after and we could not be more pleased with the results.
Through out the building process, Henry and Daniela identified structural flaws and oversights left by the original builder (newly built Edge Home Townhome), documented them and repaired them. Their service is one of a kind and their integrity unmatched. We are thankful to have found them.
Again, we wanted to wait some time before posting this because often with new built homes there is that honey moon stage and in some cases one begins to notice the flaws a couple of months after. The basement has shown exceptional structural integrity (carpet, counters, doors, plumbing) and we are very pleased with it. We will post pictures once we have finally finished the decoration aspect (sorry mom!)
Thank you Abacus team!

I would not recommend Abacus to anyone I care about. We signed on with them for a $6,000 bathroom renovation and have been sorely disappointed. First off, they hire out contractors that work for other companies, which means you never know how long something is going to take. We have a 25 square foot bathroom (not including the tub) that was ripped up starting 11/3 and the job is still not done (1/2/24). Read your bids carefully. Apparently our bid “didn’t include painting”, even though Daniela came to my house and told me which paint she was going to use on our walls. Our walls had to be repaired after tile, and they didn’t know what they were doing. They bubble weird. On top of that, the walls in 2 spots were ruined from the tile guy. Daniela’s plan was just to “fix” those walls and paint only them? In a tiny bathroom? Not paint the whole thing? Then they “sprayed” the tiny bathroom and literally didn’t paint any of the things that needed to be fixed, but got paint everywhere and only cleaned it when I told them to. They also pay no attention to detail. There was a light switch issue I told them about since day one after the tile was installed. After 6 weeks they “fixed” it and it’s not level. We also cannot find a switch plate that works with it because the screws are so off. Daniela’s response when I told her how upset I was everything was taking so long was “just because your bid says bathroom remodel doesn’t mean we are going to do whatever you want us to do.” I just wanted our bathroom put back together after complete renovation lol. I wasn’t asking for anything above and beyond. Just a job finished. They never came back to install our shower rod, even though they said they would multiple times but kept “leaving their drill” other places, never fixed a plug that the tile guy didn’t put back properly (he filled behind the plug with cardboard to bring it forward! And they didn’t fix it!), installed a weird light switch extender completely crooked, and on top of it all lied to me about when a plumber could come to finish installing our faucet— she told me he was booked until the 3rd week of January and I needed to just find someone else. I called him that second and he could come the next day. She wanted to leave our walls worse than they found them and felt like that was appropriate and ok. The first time they “fixed” the walls and painted them, they didn’t sand any plaster they had used to fill holes and painted over it. They did the same with the wood trim. Then they came back to “fix” the paint for the 3rd time and used a little roller that left a weird texture over the spots they rolled. After that I had them texture the walls and told them I’d just paint them, at seven months pregnant, because I couldn’t handle them coming over again to just do the walls wrong AGAIN. Truly just stay far away. Contact your own workers and you’ll save yourself the headache of having to deal with this company. They would also say they were coming certain days and times and then never show up and not even reach out to say when they’d actually be there (days or weeks later). If you’re considering going with them contact me and I can explain more of this headache over the phone.

We used Abacus for a basement finishing. We did a great room, storage room, under the stairs playroom, and a bedroom. We had accents walls, pop out fireplace, vinyl, and tile flooring. Quarts countertops in our bathroom. We got to design all of it ourselves, down to the last detail. It was great working with Daniella. She is professional and quick at getting back to us. We are VERY happy with our finished product. If the was anything we wanted changed they had no problem accommodating us. I would recommend Abacus Construction.
