Overall

My overall experience with expert solar has been beyond fantastic. They have worked with me every step of the way and I have really been blown away by their amazing customer service. Any questions or concerns I've had, they have been quick to address them. Quick shout out to Ben, Jackie and Ron for getting the job done, I really appreciate your dedication to your customers. Note with covid things are going slower such as city inspections etc. But hopefully with the covid restrictions slowly changing it will fix that. I was extremely pleased with the comment our inspector gave by saying this has been one of the better installs he has seen by far, he even went as far as saying the best in his opinion. He stated a lot of other companies make rookie mistakes causing re-inspections. Which I am thankful was not needed. Thanks expert solar for making this an easy experience!

My frustrations run deep with this company since signing my contract. They've lied and do not care about you, the consumer of their "ASSURED" product. I suggest going with literally ANY other solar company. They will not respond to MONTHS of attempts to resolve issues.

Run far away before this company runs with your money.

Where to start? We have just finished the debacle that was dealing with these people. Shortly before Labor Day last year, we signed a contract to complete a solar installation on our house. Our salesman said it would be no more than 2 months but they may be able to get it done in less than a month. We were told we would get 18 panels that would be a 6.66kW system. We actually got the survey done reasonable quickly (within a few weeks) but then all progress updates (which were promised every 10 days) ground to a halt and suddenly 18 panels wasn't possible.

The survey guys and their boss said that they couldn't fit 18 and that the software the sales guy used was wrong. They could fit 12, maybe 14 on but there were setback restrictions that wouldn't allow it. We own a house with a flat roof. Unfortunately, no one at the company had read the actual building code to find out that the setback restrictions did not apply to flat roofs. I had to argue this with them to actually get the work done multiple times as we worked our way through various elements of the company who also never read the building code which is odd because you would think a solar company would know where they could put solar panels.

I then was told nothing and not called back multiple times over the next month until I was told that our project was in permitting. So, I called the city building department. No permit had been submitted. After numerous calls, we finally got someone on the phone who would respond and he informed me that the ball had been dropped and nothing had been done to move my project forward. By the time the engineer was working on the project, it was Thanksgiving. We were informed that we would be kept up to date on the process, but I was given no updates unless I was contacting them. Luckily, my new contact was actually fairly responsive. However, they did not inform us that they were submitting a building permit once they finally got around to it. One of the permits did not pass, but I noticed that the permits lied about the cost of the build and once again, they had downsized our project without notifying us.

I was able to get in contact with the engineer who explained that they changed our project due to setbacks again but also stated that our flat roof would not be able to support the ballast system promised by the salesman. (A ballast system keeps you from having to penetrate a single sheet flat roof, thus not voiding the warranty). At this point I reached out to my contact and informed him that this was not acceptable. He said he would reach out to his boss who called me. She informed me that they could get all this sorted out but I had been lied to, ignored, and generally treated poorly enough that I did not trust them doing any element of this project. I informed her that this project would not move forward and I expected a refund. She stated that we were stuck with them and that we were contractually obligated to move forward with the project. I followed this by sending an email declaring formally our intent to cease all work and demand our money back or we would reach out to a lawyer.

What followed was silence. A month later, we reached out to our lawyer who also reached and was given the silent treatment. After over another month, our lawyer began arbitration proceedings. Finally, we heard back from the owner who claimed he was surprised that we had been treated so poorly and that we deserved our money back. He dragged his feet, but likely knowing he would lose arbitration, finally sent us our money. We were our all the lawyer fees but we at least got some money and they no longer held onto our money after this 9 month ordeal.

If you take the risk of working with these people, document everything. Read the contract. My recommendation is to learn from my experience and avoid them if you can.

Signed our contract 9/2022 with a completion date of 12/22. After failing to communicate, show up for appointments or even extend/update our timeline we decided to terminate our contract 2/2023 (2 months AFTER the work should have been completed) Only after our termination email, were we in communication with and suddenly they have the money to do the work and have all the materials in the warehouse. Today we left a message reiterating loss of confidence and termination when Ron showed up at my home 6:30PM, unannounced and THREATENING to put a $10,000 lien on our home because our contract was still “valid” even though communication was obsolete and no one contacted us to extend the timeline, no permits were shown either. The interaction is recorded on our home camera system. We feel violated and unsafe in our own residence.

If I could give zero stars I would. This company has got to be the most disorganized mess I have ever seen or ever have the displeasure doing business with. We started our experience mid summer, being told that the project should be done sometime around September. September comes and goes with very little communication as to when the project could be started(come to find out they had input my phone number incorrectly). I had to constantly reach out for status updates etc. this company made no effort to reach out and keep me updated on permit status and installation scheduling. The company would additionally show up unannounced to do pre inspection before installation of the roof and panels without any notification to me or my wife via phone or email. Eventually they came late October and installed the solar panels and roof. Once installation had finally been completed( they installed a new roof for me too) everything was going ok until it started to get windy. I complained that there was a constant guttural noise coming from the roof they just installed but I had little traction with expert Solar. After a couple months of me trying to reach out and getting “we will get back to you” they informed me that I would need to take pictures of the area making noise. I went into my attic to take pictures and noticed the was a gap of light at the base of where they had installed a new plywood board under my new shingles. It was evident that this was the cause of the noise as it was loud throughout the attic as the wind from outside caught the board making it vibrate. I took videos and pictures and sent them in. I was told “they would get back to me” mid December. 3 weeks later I followed up because no one reached out to me yet again and was told there was nothing they could do. My wife has been pregnant the whole time which i conveyed to the company so the constant loud sounds mixed with pregnancy insomnia have left her exhausted. In conclusion this company is an absolute disaster. I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy.

Only took them going on 18 weeks now to finish and with me calling them numerous times throughout the process to apparently remind them of what they're job is to do. I'd hate to lose my warranty but if it means this company going bankrupt, I'm ok with that. This place lied to me from the beginning even as simple as when I told the saleswoman that the sun rises in front of my house and sets in the back being east to west. The only decent guys that work here are the ones who installed the wiring. You'd figure for as much as these panels are, the company would be much more professional. Go with noble solar or even Covent solar. Stay far away from this company as they also like to delete Google reviews so I'll be consistently checking to make sure mine stays forever

What a privilege to have a top notch and recommended by Enphase installer in the Hampton road. My system consists of 77 panels near the hilltop area. Amazing company the team is super knowledgeable and make you feel at ease when you have a question. They are super competitive in price and stand behind their work. Courteous, punctual and knowledgeable. They don’t cut corners on their install. I would recommend them to all my neighbors. Don’t waist one minute with out of town or lower price installer. These guys are the real deal. ???
