I recently had to have a sunroof replaced due to it shattering. The guys at Ray’s were super helpful and kind. They did amazing work and got it repaired quickly.
Went to Ray's Because I heard good things and they said "No job is too small or too big". Spoke to "John". He looked at it and immediately said no problem, and it could be done for $275.00 ! When I balked at the price, he immediately came down to $225.00. I still asked why & John said, "Well, that is one piece & the armrest is Welded to the door liner.. What I already knew was a blatant FALSE STATEMENT, because I had taken the door apart and you can clearly see it is a SEPARATE PIECE that can easily be taken out of the door panel and recovered. I agreed to get it done, but after thinking about it , I went to ANOTHER SHOP IN RICHMOND, and they correctly told me that it can be taken out and recovered.. and they would do it for a FRACTION OF THE $225.00 that JOHN said he could do it. When I brought it to his attention a day before my scheduled appointment, he said "Well if you tell me who told you they would do it I will match their price., to which i said .. Please just CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT. i Shouldnt have had to go through all that to get an HONEST estimate from a local business that does good work.. Very disapointed in a locsl business that is supposed to be looking out for customers.. rather than PRICE gouging what he thought was a customer that didn't know any better.. How many more of his customers is he doing this to,.. I just wonder. Buyer beware.. Dont always take the "Expert's " word for it . They may be LYING TO YOUR FACE!!
P.S. You know how most local businesses respond to bad reviews to show the public they stand by their work and at least have some integrity in their business model. Well, Ray's has NOT responded to any reviews unless they are good. One can only surmise that what we are reading are true accounts of Bad Business Practices. Soo Sad..

Had torn driver seat, rest of upholstery was in great shape. Contemplated seat covers all the way to OEM replacement bottom cover. Called John, said he could replace the torn panel. Looks 100% factory and brand new. In and out in 1 day.

Bought a used car and the leather liner on the dashboard started to bubble up. The dealership paid Rays to have the liner replaced ($3,000) and was supposed to be a 2 week repair time. Three months later and after multiple excuses regarding the delay I got my car back. Soon after I realized the liner had not been replaced and they just ironed out the bubbles. One of the delay excuses was material back order from the auto labor strike, which obviously wasn’t the case. Four months after getting back my car, the bubbles started to reappear in same spot. Rays is disorganized and not honest, I would look elsewhere.

I am from CT and needed to start getting all my new contacts here in Richmond. I was referred to Ray’s by 2 people from Richmond . I called John and he took me right away. In 1 hour or so I left his shop with a brand new driver seat cover . Looks fantastic. John was professional, polite and his price was reasonable. In today’s world John , his staff and his quality is hard to find. Most shops would have said , no , and their pricing would have been unfair. John, thanks to you and tour team you have a raving fan and a customer for life .
