Be careful with hiring ARC Mechanical. I started looking for a heat pump installer two years ago. In rural Vermont it is hard to find someone who will make the trek to this kind of work. ARC eventually responded and gave me an estimate and a time frame. I hired an electrician to do the prep work.
First problem, the estimate from ARC did not give any indication of what might be required for electrical work (not their job, but communication is always appreciated.) The electrical work ended up being nearly equal to the cost of the pumps. I had to hire my own electrician.
Second problem, ARC said they would install in the summer but they did not show up. When I called they said “next month, we’ll tell you when.” I got this line all the way to January. In the interim I burned nearly my entire woodpile. If we lose electric (again) I will not have enough wood to carry me through the winter. If ARC had shown me the respect of communicating with me, I could have prepared. Now I am hoping for global warming until I can harvest more firewood. (Why did I buy heat pumps?)
Third, the technicians left the instruction manual but no one has shown me the nuances of how to live with a heat pump. (Hint: they will not heat up a cold house. They are only good for keeping a house warm.)
Caveat: the technicians who installed the pumps were prompt and professional.
I still think heat pumps are a good idea. But ARC is probably not your best bet. I hope I don’t require warranty service.
It was great having the system during the heat and humidity we had this last week. We are still learning best comfort settings for us. We’ve recommended you to a couple neighbors who have inquired. Thank you.

Paul Luciw has been a pleasure to work over the years…deep expertise, solid estimates, clear communication. ARC installed a new TRANE HVAC system several years back…and last week a new Bradford-White hot water heater and water main plumbing. The 2 techs were great. Did an excellent job installing it, showing me how to operate it. High-quality company….high-quality products….high-quality personnel.

It was a very pleasant experience through the entire process, from getting the quote to the end with a new air conditioner for our house. ARC folks are professionals, and we are happy with their performance.

Ian and his team were great! During the site visit we talked through all the options and they found one for us which was within our budget and did what we needed. The installation happened earlier than expected. It was quick and the crew were very professional and very experienced. The heat pumps are up and running smoothly now and out home is warm and comfortable. Ian is still available by text or phone to answery questions. Overall I would absolutely recommend ARC Mechanical Contractors.

The ARC team did a great job installing my mini splits-- very tidy work and very efficient. The job required removing an old gas furnace and associated ductwork, an old whole-house air conditioner, and a through-the-wall air conditioner. Everything left tidy and closed up, including added insulation. Mini-splits working well. Thank you ARC!

Just had a heat pump water heater, softener and sediment filter install and the work was very involved. The guys were thorough, timely and dedicated. Work looks great. Looking forward to working with them for the heat pump install this fall with them!
