BUYER BEWARE!!! We have been ghosted by Middlebury Fence, once in 2020 after our initial experience when we questioned the integrity of their install (no concrete or sand was used) and again these past few months when our 3.5 year old fence blew apart in the early Spring wind storm because of their poor install. After reaching out, an appraiser tried to charge us $4,000.00 to fix (the initial install was less than $6K). With our own research, we discovered that the fence was indeed installed without proper support per the manufacturer's guide. Mike the owner promised to "make right" our situation. That was three weeks ago and we have heard NOTHING despite sending out two follow-up emails and calling the company repeatedly. We are left with a blown apart eye sore, a poorly installed fence and no way of contacting Middlebury Fence as their phone number is disconnected. We have reached out to our lawyer but wanted to save other customers this hassle. Use F.E Heart or anyone other than Middlebury. VERY DISAPPOINTED. BAD PRODUCT. BAD COMMUNICATION. OVER CHARGING.

We used Middlebury Fence Company to install a split board fence on our property in Montpelier and were really pleased with them. They worked with us on numerous changes to the design to help fit within our budget. Plus they were great about talking us through different materials that work well in Vermont. We wanted to get something that fit the aesthetic of the area and played well with our yard and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Oh and they had originally quoted us about 8 weeks out but ours actually got installed about two weeks after quote because of another cancellation and the easy to source Black Locust wood materials we went with.

Heard these folks did good work so I was looking forward to doing a project. They came out and inspected the area and then ghosted. Never got an estimate or a quote. Never heard from them again. So I hired someone else for that job (about a $50K job). I thought I'd give Middlebury another chance for my next job so I asked them to come out and give a quote, thinking maybe the first experience was an anomaly. They made an appointment for the quote, but the appraiser called the day of asking for a different time. I said I would try to accommodate but I wasn't sure when I'd be available outside of the established appointment. When I wasn't available RIGHT WHEN HE WANTED he acted huffy, saying he was going back to the office and insisting I'd said I'd be available (which is untrue - I never agreed to re-arrange my day for him. That's why we, you know, make appointments). I've got another $100K worth of fence to put in and I guess Middlebury doesn't like the color of my money or something? Oh well, I gave them two chances and they were a dud.
