Thanks for everything Rob. I didn't have the confidence to build and was looking for an established home. Your honesty and passion to help others visualise the end-game was for me the catalyst that drove my decision to build. You're an absolute legend and just an awesome bloke! I wish you well and hope ABC continues to look after you! ?? When the house is built, I will shout you out to dinner!

---- Here's the context ----

I'm building my house with Metricon. For a company that's "going broke", my build is ahead of everyone else's in the street. Not only that, there's only 4 houses at the framing stage on my street 2 of them are Metricon). NOT ONLY THAT, my house has a fixed price! (I'm using ABC Homes which, is a Metricon Company).

Metricon needed a cash injection - of which privately they put in $30M and the Commonwealth Bank backed them with further funds. This was to complete an unprecedented peak of unfinished homes. Not because they were 'going broke'. The alternative would be to do it much slower. (and be in the same position as every other builder is right now)

Well, they've taken that money and injected it into action with a fabulous effort of GETTING THE JOB DONE! Many unstarted lots sitting next to framed up Metricon Homes (certainly what I'm seeing in my region)

SO WHAT WAS ALL THE NEWS ABOUT THEN?

What happened is, the media decided to single Metricon out from the pack when the owner passed away suddenly on the 16th May. A pretty despicable effort by the news! It doesn't take much to strike fear into new-home-owner builders! Writing those articles caused more of a problem than the PROBLEM itself. A self fulfilling prophecy could've happened (and in someway did happen - as people STILL assume there's an issue)

I just hope that Metricon are now showing everyone Australia wide what they've shown me! They can do this! They will do it! and they'll do it with promptness and quality!

What will they do??? Beat the naysayers down a few pegs and show everyone what a quality builder looks like.

p.s. I'm not being paid for this ? and wasn't asked to write anything...
Just motivated by a good company that's shown me building a new home is not impossible...
