We recently had not so great experience with Canadian Care and there are quite a few reasons why it didn’t go well.
So we had a technician come for regular furnace tuning and he pointed out few major issues with furnace installations which needed some attention. We were quick to book appointment for the changes to address safety concerns and the problem starts from there.
1. The technician who came for tuning was not from Canadian care and may be a sub contractor which they may be leveraging for additional business. The problem is the communication and quality goes down drastically and its all about 15 mins making some quick bucks and moving to the next site which was again my another property. My experience with sub contractors is not great as they usually don’t care about the brand or commitment which the company may have made to the customer.
2. We called John who seems to be professional but totally overwhelmed on how to manage this teams or subcontractors. As he tried to book an appointment for us couple of times however the subcontractors dodged him or may be us couple of times which is again going back to my previous statement quite unprofessional when you charge and commit much more then competitors for the service.
3. We were provided with a verbal quote on the charges for the job and it was assumed that the points raised by the first technician would be addressed. But you bet it’s pretty much no communication between any and every one within this company . So I called John on what was raised by technician then he called the project co- ordinator who would then call the sub contractor who was suppose to fix the issue but not willing to as he had another job lined up and he was getting late and didn’t care much what Canadian care folks had to say on the phone.
4. The technician who came to fix the furnace came with pretty much no preparation. After almost 5-10 mins in the job he realized that some parts are not with him in the van and had to leave for around 30 mins to find them from nearest store which shows again how the communication happens within the team/ project to handle the job so I can’t totally blame the sub contractor who might not have complete requirement from the Office.
5. As the contractor was getting late for his next job and was missing a electrical cable which needed replacement, he was like I can come tom. to replace that cable but ai can’t spend anymore time at this site as I have to run to my next site.
6. Last but not least is basic courtesy from the technician which was missing during the furnace tuning visit. He might me under the influence of weather or not sure Covid as he was continuously coughing for the time he was at my place which made me uncomfortable as there are small kids around and a $.05 mask would have done the trick if you can’t take a day off due to work load.
Overall I don’t see any reason for calling Canadian care back next year for any furnace jobs as there quality has deteriorated drastically and it seems more of a lead generation company for different sub contractors then an actual company.
Sharing the pic of the van of sub contractor for records
Edit: Updating my review as I received a call from Sam ( technician ) who has been working with us for last few years and dropped by last week to ask what can be done to rectify the issue. Although delayed but happy that they followed up on a genuine concern with the work they messed up. Sam was polite and reviewed the issues and the reasons. Although not completely his fault but it leaves some work to be done when co- ordinating jobs and coming prepared for the work. I have added 2 more stars but not 5 to reflect the fact that there needs to be some systematic improvement in the process and not just one off incident.

We have used Canadian Care over the past dozen or so years and they had been great. We always requested the same technician (Sam G.) as he knew us, knew our products, was skilled and knowledgeable at his trade, polite, and showed up on time. However, in recent years the service has really gone downhill. We recently (2 years ago) had our hot water tank replaced by Canadian Care Heating. Due to our basement being recently renovated, the framing contractors that framed the new space didn't leave quite enough room for the newer tanks as apparently they are larger. So Canadian Care recommended that we go with a tankless system as it would take up less space and be more energy efficient.
When they came to do the installation they realized that due to the reframing design from the reno, the new hot water tank location did not have an adjacent floor drain (this wasn't their fault, more the renovators poor planning, but this oversight should have been picked up by Canadian Care during the first site visit when they were quoting). So, to address this floor drain issue, the installer put an electric pump in that space so the residual water that was discharged from the tankless system could drain and the pump would pump the water away. Then it was realized that there was nowhere the pump could pump water to with no adjacent drain? Ugg. So, they connected a clear piece of tubing to the pump and routed it through the ceiling (cutting a hole in our drywall ceiling and not repairing it I might add) and ran the tubing through the joist space and through the outside wall, routing the drain tube into the rain gutter. That worked ok until the following winter when the line froze and the pump couldn't pump, resulting in our kitchen being flooded.
We reached out to Canadian Care to explain our problem and request a service call to remedy the issue. I spoke to John (the dispatcher of sorts) who was nice on the phone but seemed stressed with multiple issues and not enough qualified staff to deal with them. We tried to schedule a worker to come and re-route the hose to an interior drain location, but they never showed up and no calls. We were not expecting any "free service" and were completely willing to pay for whatever needed to be done. So, we continued to call John to try to book another appointment and we finally got one. However, again they didn't show up or even call. I believe these no-shows are a result of the fact that this company has recently started to hire subcontractors to do their work instead of the trusted employees they had do the work in the past (when we too were satisfied customers). I should have just quit at that point. When our second appointment was a no-show I called John and he apologized, but I didn't want an apology, I wanted a service worker to show up! I had already taken 2 days off work for these missed appointments which was very frustrating. I did feel bad for John because it probably wasn't his fault. I finally got to the point where I was getting tired of the excuses and I just needed this completed. So I reached out to another company and had the work promptly completed without any hassle. I would not recommend Canadian Care. They talk a good game, but the execution with their subcontractors is horrible. Perhaps they can go back in time to when they had satisfied customers and revert back to that business model.

I like that the guys were very good at handling all the installation issues that come up with the home I own. The follow up after the installation was awesome. I definitely would recommend this company to family and friends.

CCH&C did a great job when they replaced our furnace. We were really pleased with the service. When we replaced our thermostat with a digital one ourselves weeks later, we phoned Sam with questions. Not only did he help us the first time, he was super friendly and didn't make us feel like we were bugging him. Thanks, Canadian Care, and thanks, Sam.
