Every year for some years now, I have had my furnace and air conditioning serviced by Laird &Sons. They are outstanding. Booking the service is simple. The service rep is prompt and super professional and happy to answer questions regarding the operations of the units. I couldn’t be happier.

The technicians are always on the early side of arrival window. Yesterday it was Brian. always a smile on these guys. Answered a few questions for me and made me feel better about my thermostat. Thanks Laird for having such great techs

Although they appear as knowledgeable and reliable, they are absolutely not.
I used their services several times. There was an issue I called them to fix. They came twice, charged me accordingly, but didn’t fix it. They blamed it on a 3rd factor.
Then they have given me a quote to fix something that in hindsight they deliberately disabled on my boiler. It was 1000k+.
I started suspecting the whole thing.
I took a different technician that fixed the problem they have created+ the original problem they never fixed, but charged for twice, for half that amount.

Sep2023, A technician came to my house, changed the transformer 250$+ $150 for labor. I dont know if the old transformer still work or not, but my AC works at that time
June2024, a technician came to my house, they changed the same thing, charged 250+150$.
And they told me the mother board also burn out, they gave me the quote 1100$.
Unbelievable.

I called another company, they tested, nothing wrong with my mother board or transformer.
They reused the old "burn" transformer that Laird and Son told me it was useless.
My AC works fine without changed tranformer or mother board.

I sent email to Laird and Son, asking for refund the part (transformer) that I didn't use.
They refused to take it back, refuse to reply email so I can have evidence to post on Google review.

Please stay away from this company ASAP.

From the originating call all the way to the same day service and expertise Laird and Son's live up to their long standing reputation. I'm glad I chose this company to help my situation.
Both folks in the office were great.... I think I spoke to Tracy and I can't remember the other gentleman's name but five stars for their professionalism.
Daniel the technician was outstanding. Polite. Professional and very knowledgeable.
Thank you for sorting out my a/c.
Will use again.

Excellent customer service & workmanship. Installed a Mitsubchi Ductless M-Series Single Split wall AC unit On time, professional friendly staff. Take the time to explain what is required. Efficient.
Trustworthy. Great warranty and provide yearly service of unit (extra cost) yearly.

I called Laird and Sons to come have my AC fixed when it didn't turn on in the spring. My AC unit had been purchased and installed by them less than 3 years earlier. My understanding was this would be covered under warranty since it was still so new. I spoke with two different office staff who were both very unpleasant with me and I received different responses.
I moved into the home 1.5 years ago and one of them informed me that since I had not had the AC unit serviced that the warranty was void (I had no idea that I needed to have them service the AC unit annually at a cost of $200+ per visit as a first time home owner).
The other person I spoke with informed me that since I was not the original purchaser, the warranty was void (even though I have the receipt from the original home owner). To be clear, I am referring to their service fee, not parts from Napoleon (the manufacturer). I spoke directly with Napoleon and they were happy to cover any parts.
I then emailed the owner directly explaining this situation to see if there was anything they would do to stand by their work. He just forwarded it back to the office staff.
Since Laird and Sons did not want to honour their warranty on labour (which was supposed to be for 10 years) I called around for several other quotes. Everybody else was friendly and willing to help. To be fair, I cancelled my appointment with Laird and never had a technician come so this review is mostly for the office staff/owner I dealt with and their lack of willingness to cover their warranty. Perhaps I just caught them on a bad day, but this is not the way I would want to run a small business. I do feel bad giving a small business a 1 star review, but my experience here was really not good and there are plenty of other good options around.
Update: the owner's response below is a prime example of their abrasive and accusatorial tone. I think this speaks for itself. And installed less than 3 years ago...

Have been using Laird & son for years, just had Sean in to service our air conditioner. Great communication prior and during servicing

We have dealt with Laird & Son for years and now it was time to convert from oil to gas heating. From arranging to have the gas line run to the house, removal of oil tank and furnace, and then installation of new gas furnace and all setup and testing, the Laird team were amazing! They looked after every aspect of this major installation in a most professional, timely, friendly, and agreeable manner. Thanks again to Ross and all the team members for a job well done...We would certainly recommend Laird & Son to any and all!.
