If I could give this money grabbing thieving company less than 1 star I would. All checks were completed post build and throughout the build. Completion came, checks were completed, payment was made and then radio silence. No completion cert issued. To then find out 2 weeks after full payment was made, they issued a cancellation notice with no notification!! They’ve been reported to the BSR and I won’t stop until I’m issued a full refund. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from what’s meant to be such a ‘good’ company. Avoid at all costs. They’re not good. They’re robbers and by the looks of the reviews I’m unfortunately not the only one.

I’ve been working with Bhavik for over a year on a project. We’ve been provided a professional service and have been kept informed of any issues throughout the build ensuring all regs are met by the builders. We also received help with getting an application approved that our current architects were unable to have approved after 3 attempts so we are really happy with the added advice and references that Bhavik has provided. Thanks again, I would highly recommend Assent, they’ve been consistent on making site visits even with our delays in the build.

--- UPDATE 16th JULY 2024 ---

Project still not signed off, chasing daily for an update, the whole team that was assigned to this project has suddenly 'left the business' with no information as to what is happening. This project completed and stages were signed off in January, the prolonging of the final certificate for items that were signed off by your building control officers at the time with proof of the email chains provided is highly unprofessional and I would not recommend using Assent building control at all. My previous review was requested by the building control officer at the time works were still being carried out, who has now left the business and was told he would be able to help old clients complete the sign off process but was also locked out of the system. I am being passed around from email address to email address, with no contact number provided for someone that can actually deal with the final sign off. Head office simply provides an email address to chase further. Avoid!!

One star is even too many for this company. Avoid at all costs. They are slow, don't read emails properly and make huge mistakes. We will never ever be using Assent again and really hope no one else uses them because the stress, extra work and headaches they have caused over one small and simple project was massive. I experienced rudeness, even though all the issues were their fault, inefficiency, even thought I spelt out every mistake they made and gave them ways to rectify them, yet they still managed to mess up numerous times.
If you want to have a stress free project and be sane of mind by the end of it then DO NOT use Assent Building Control.

Sadly we have had the worst experience with the control officer from Assent. He swanned in multiple times in his Porsche each time claiming work was fine / mentioning what needed confirming. Then upon completion added 2 items to the list to review even though he reviewed at the time. Reviews that would require us to open a completed roof to show insulation that was viewed previously. We’ve paid in full and have been trying to get answers for over a year just for him (Joe) to say he was leaving over new year and that he would call us on new years day for us to never hear from him again. Oct ‘22 our work completed and now in June ‘24 we are unable to get ahold of an answer/ completion certificate.

The standard of building control is abysmal!! A 6m RSJ supported by two blocks of wood, above ground drains not connected to the sewage system, no build over certificate for the sewage pipes and holes and gaps everywhere. How this build is going to get a building certificate is beyond me. The complaints process is a joke as well, they just send you the same letter so the next stop is the CIC and Health and Safety Executive.

I paid upfront for some bulding control work and a few weeks later had to cancel the project. I agreed an amount for admin fees which I totally understand, agreed the settlement agreement which I have in writing, provided my bank details for the remaining refund and over two months later still havent been paid despite me chasing this. Its totally unprofessional and their finance team in Wakefield came up with some pathetic excuse and have just ignored me. Would I use this firm for future projects. No way. They treat customers will utter distain.

What’s the point of this company? This line doesn’t make any sense.
Inspections are carried out by Building Control at certain stages of the building work and these inspections are carried out to check, but not to guarantee, that the work complies with the Building Regulations.
