Unbelievable, having to pay fine without knowing, it happens to everyone. This surely has to be a legalised scam, hopefully the government does something because it looks very bad on the city and UK in general. There must be more licit ways to get money from people, not scamming this way.

Absolutely appalling, crossed there and back in one day and due to expired card on their system didn’t manage to pay therefore £44 ( if paid early !!!!) fine to cross a fricking bridge. Absolutely disgusting in addition to the fact there is nobody to speak to besides an automated call system. Not to mention I live in the area and already pay council tax & road tax !!!! Robbery !!!!!

Absolutely fraudulent approach to collecting payments for travel on this bridge. When you are driving for the first time and do not know about it, there is a very small percentage that you will notice a sign with information that travel is toll. In my opinion, this is a special trap to fish out as much money as possible through fines!!! This should not happen in a democratic country!!!

I received a fine in the post for £40, reduced to £20 if I pay within 14 days.
I went to check for the signboard using google, noticed a very small sign asking to pay toll, moving traffic at 60 miles. you can miss this in the daytime, and i was driving in the night at 03:35.
I travelled across to Chester from Aberdeen, using Google maps in the dark.
Didn’t see one sign to indicate I was crossing a toll bridge (too busy concentrating on an unfamiliar road in the dark), nor did Google maps mention it was a toll road.
Nothing sent in the post to say I had missed the payment and needed to pay.
As other reviews say, this is undoubtedly a scam set up by the council. Why would anyone avoid a £2 toll?
Absolute nonsense. Imagine how many are cheated everyday?
I feel robbed by Halton Borough Council - Merseyflow!
Halton Borough Council must be investigated for cheating public in the broad daylight.

It's took a long time, but the structure they built is amazing. Four lanes, each side with a limited speed of 60 mph. Each crossing is £2.20 I think. And whenever you cross the bridge, you have to pay before midnight the next day. e.g if you cross the bridge at 1600 (4pm) you have to pay for your crossing before 1200 (midnight) the next day. (Means you have 32 hours to pay). Thanks

I couldn't believe why people gave them bad reviews. The sign clearly shows that, depending on the size of the vehicle, it will be charged a certain fee before entering the bridge. Their customer service is very friendly, and you can discuss any issue with them without any problem.
