Placed an order for delivery of supplies to be delivered this morning… not only was the driver headed in the wrong direction with my order they put into the system incorrectly,(which took the rep 30min and 2holds to locate) but he showed up with HALF of what I paid for. I’m on the line with Josh at the company and that’s when he tells me they sold out just yesterday and the fix is to wait till Friday for another delivery! I the customer who has already paid with the expectation of what I ordered being on the truck in front of me has to wait a few more days for delivery of materials necessary for a job that’s already been started? I’m terribly upset about the incompetency here with knowing what’s in stock or placing what’s been PAID for on hold! I got a couple apologies from Josh who was super pleasant but that doesn’t fix a problem that shouldn’t have been a problem! Awful customer service and lack of communication within the staff!

If I could leave zero stars I would. This was my second time here. The first time two female employees were at the desk as you walk in, my husband and I walked past them and were never acknowledged, they had no customers. No one even acknowledged us while we were in the store although when we asked questions to the guy at the middle desk he was very helpful. Upon leaving, the same two women were heads down and didn’t say a word. My husband even mentioned how unfriendly this place seems and how no one said, hello, goodbye, or anything else. Second time I entered by myself. No one acknowledged me, I walked past three employees and no one asked if I needed help. When I got to the desk to check out, one of the items rang up a different price than what my workers paid yesterday so I questioned it. I was told the price was correct, when I asked about a smaller hog wire fence I was told they don’t carry it, however my husband and I saw it in the store on our previous visit. The guy didn’t even ring up my door hinge that was on the counter I had to ask if he got that. The men behind the counter either stared at me or were not helpful. I walk out with a 3x6 hog fence and my door hinge then minutes later an employee is carrying 2 small items to a car for an older gentleman. I sure won’t be back and maybe I’m not their clientele. Lowes and Home Depot are less expensive and a little more friendly.

This is the best building supply/ home improvement store in Auburn -- bar none. It is the reincarnation of the old Spencer Lumber Co. and at least one of the Spencer family guys is still there -- and he KNOWS his s____.
Prices are equal or frequently lower than the Big Box stores.
I go out of my way to shop there.

Nice, clean, friendly staff. Name brand and house brand items available. Inventory not avalable online but a simple call solves that. They have a mandatory mask sign at the door but staff dont wear them. Lots of parking space.

First time customer. Excellent service at the order desk and in the warehouse. Order picker made sure I got good lumber but that wasn't hard. I didn't see any poor quality in the first place. Place was clean, we'll stocked and very well organized . I'm from Birmingham and wish we had a Russell in the Gardendale area.

These delivery drivers are so incredibly rude! Speeding, cutting off cars, running people off the road, tailgating. I called the company to place a complaint, especially with KIDS in my car, the man on the phone basically cared less that me and my children almost got ran off the road because of this mans reckless driving WITH a good amount of wood and other materials in the back of the truck coming within inches of our front windshield, speeding over 80+ miles an hour... all before 7 am in the morning.

If you really want to stand by behind people who clearly misrepresent your company and can’t abide basic traffic rules and are careless with other people’s lives, that’s on you.

Thanks for almost causing an accident for no reason by 7 am!

They would not take order over the phone. Driver pulled in the yard, my wife went to meet the driver,he was told not to put lumber in muddy area. He pulled his truck in the mud. Stuck it. My son went out to try and help. Couldn't pull it out, so he offered to help unload by hand to keep it out of the mud. The driver just lifted bed and dumped it in the mud. Now I have muddy wood, some of the boards broke, rutted yard and when he pulled out he broke limbs off the trees. Where do they get their drivers. I recommend going to anyone but them. Stubborn, non caring, just the worst experience ever.
