We talked to a few pool contractors before starting our backyard project, and chose to work with California Pools for two main reasons - 1. we really liked the in-office design and consultation, as well as meeting some of the team face to face, and 2. they said that, unless we choose to change something, the quote is the quote - no surprises.

We had a very complicated backyard demo and there were some hidden surprises in our yard that came up during the demo. Ryan V. and California Pools were 100% true to their word and didn't come back and ask for more money, unless we did something out of the original project scope. Also, despite an extremely wet winter and long demo, they finished our full backyard quickly. They called for inspections as soon as a stage was complete, and coordinated the various teams extremely efficiently.

Most importantly for us, their communication was amazing. We had asked to be "extra informed" about the process, and they were great with that. The whole team was a pleasure to work with. We had a phone call early on with Ryan V. where he was very thoughtful, understanding, and professional. We also have to give an extra shout out to Ryan S., our project manager. Every time I called or texted with an urgent question, he immediately responded. He is extremely knowledgable and professional, and also very friendly and patient.

We put in a new pool, spa, firepit and turf with California Pools, and our backyard came out even better than we could have imagined. We are so thankful to California Pools, and have loved having our new yard for the summer. If we were to do another backyard project, we would 100% work with California Pools again.

I was referred to California Pools (San Clemente) by a neighbor who had the company build their pool. I find word of mouth referrals from trusted personal sources to be the most reliable and this certainly proved to be the case with California Pools, with whom we contracted to handle our build. Every step of our six-month project, from the initial in-office consultation with the owner/team, design, permits, materials selection and HOA approval through demo, excavation, plumbing, electrical and masonry...all of it...was without setbacks or drama. California Pools and its excellent team became more than simply a company I hired; they quickly became partners in helping transform our yard. The contract and payment schedule (as stages of the work was completed) were clearly spelled out. My project manager, Ryan Skelton, was extraordinarily friendly, responsive and managed the build like it was going into his own yard. Communication was superb and handled not only via telephone but via group text where all parties could and did easily share updates and information. All deadlines were met. The trade work was very clean and the end quality was excellent. Workers were talented, kind, focused, on time, respectful of our neighbors and cleaned up at the end of each day. If anyone is seriously considering a pool/spa project, I enthusiastically recommend California Pools (San Clemente)!

We had a great experience working with the team at California Pools from start to finish. When we met Ryan Vaughn for our initial visit he explained each step, laid out the costs, timelines and how working with CA pools would be a much different experience than other pool companies. Happy to report that turned out to be true. Blake created beautiful designs for our small backyard to include a large swimming spa, fire pit, covered patio and hard scape. Ryan S oversaw the project and he and the team were responsive to questions or any issues that popped up during the work. We love our new backyard and spend hours in our pool. I highly recommend CA Pools in San Clemente.

I have to say that my experience with CA Pools was top-notch. Our house was a new construction, so there was no demo needed. Ryan Vaughn did such a thorough job explaining every aspect of the pool construction, their process, and the cost before we even signed a contract. The "pay as they complete" process gave me a lot of confidence they would perform as they said. The team was great and they walked me through each phase. I worked with Nate, Blake, Ryan S., Kaynin, and Micah on various aspects of the project. That is a really good team! Any hiccups or changes needed were jumped on an solved immediately. They also worked very well with my hardscape contractor and, if you've ever used different contractors at the same time and in the same space, you know that can get dicey at times. Not with our contractors though. Everyone was extremely professional and I am beyond pleased on how it all turned out. I highly recommend California Pools!

We loved working with California Pools! They designed and built our dream pool and backyard. Communication was excellent and everything was explained up front as well as every step along the way. They built not only our pool exactly how we wanted it, but a bbq island, shade structure, turf and paver patio and fireplace wall to create a whole resort feel to the backyard. We are VERY happy and thankful to work with everyone here. From the start Ryan educated us on what to expect. He had us on the right track for understanding our material options, the entire process, timing, communication and drew up a clear contract. We shopped around but felt like we could trust California Pools after seeing their current projects. Keep in mind we simultaneously took on a full home reno so I was juggling a crazy schedule and budget. The professional communication, follow ups and staying on track to finish was most impressive especially during the supply squeeze. Not only was our home site respected during demo and install, they worked around our other contractor. Today we have the pool we envisioned and couldn't be happier. Highly recommend.
