Derek and his whole team at Legends Granite are the best. Derek has been in the industry for a long time and knows what he is talking about. We really liked how he sat down with us, made suggestions, and answered any and all of our questions. We visited a few other companies before going to Legends and didn't find them to be anywhere near as helpful. We recently had a magma gold granite stone install in our kitchen & absolutely love it! The 2 gentlemen that did the install (Jay & Jeremiah) were fantastic! Great personalities, wonderful professionalism & excellent installers!

The fabricator (Nick) cut the stone perfectly, even with the magma gold being a soft granite & difficult to work with, he made our dream come true with the Ogee edge.

Derek worked with us from the very first phone call, to the end of the project. So responsive, friendly & quick to answer all our inquiries. He is phenomenal! I will always recommend this wonderful company to everyone & will use them again in the future for other stone needs. They are truly the BEST OF THE BEST!!

I would give 6 stars if that were possible. The heart of new granite countertops is NOT the granite - it's the fabricator who measures, cuts, matches seams, forms the edge of your choosing, polishes, and installs. You will find the granite slab(s) you love, but finding the right fabricator makes the difference in liking the outcome vs. loving the outcome.

Measuring the existing countertop is done with tape measure and laser (see picture). This step is where you discuss and select any changes you want compared to the existing countertop. We added 2 1/2" to the outside edges of our complex 8-sided sink island. Using software, they project the precise shapes on a picture of the exact slab(s) you selected, and they select the best parts of the slab for maximum beauty. This is especially important for seams. To cut the slab(s) they use a computer controlled (CNC) machine that cuts using two methods. It has a saw for straight cuts and a high-pressure water/garnet cutter that is precisely controlled for other shapes. After cutting they polish and seal the granite.

The installation was done with care and skill. The pieces are protected during transit and a special cart helps them get the heavier pieces into the kitchen. They do some hand grinding on the edges before bringing them inside. For us, they had to grind a small notch to fit it perfectly to a cabinet. Also, an inside corner of our wall protruded slightly which prevented the 8-foot countertop from fitting perfectly against the wall. We were asked if they could knock out about 1" by 3" of drywall to make it fit. I approved the request and the slab fits perfectly and snug to the wall for the entire 8 feet. They also asked if they could trim the front part of our new composite granite sink to make it fit better. It's an under-mount installation and the cut would never be seen. That request was approved, and it fits perfectly. The seam was skillfully matched using a vacuum pump, a suction cup device, shims, and epoxy. Custom colors of epoxy were mixed to best match the different areas of the granite. The result is a perfect seam that can only be seen if you carefully look for it. See picture.

Overall results: the seam is PERFECT. The cuts are PERFECT. The Demi-bullnose edges are PERFECT. The inside and outside radii are PERFECT. The installation is PERFECT. The complex 8-sided sink island is PERFECT.

We had two especially large slabs (about 130" by 78") and Legends not only did our kitchen but also the kitchen for our son and his family. At first, I thought they may balk at that request, but they welcomed the challenge and made it happen! Our son got a huge discount because they didn't pay for granite, and we needed 2 slabs anyway.

I would like to recognize the Legends people who made this happen. Daniel handled the up-front communication, contract, choices, etc. He recommended granite suppliers and we eventually found ours at the Crossville Studios warehouse in Denver. Wade did the computer design, planning, and fabrication wizardry. Alex and Kyle did the installation. Daniel recommended Jacob Cain at Pure Renovations to install the new tile backsplash. Jacob hooked us up with ProSource for tile selection. The backsplash is being installed on schedule and top quality as I write this.

How I selected Legends: I researched 8 granite fabricators and called a few. I called Legends and Daniel answered the phone. He invited me to arrive in a couple of hours and I did. He gave me a tour of the shop, discussed their process, and provided names of granite suppliers. Once we selected our slabs, he provided a price. I usually like to get 3 bids but in this case their capability won me over and the price was not alarming. So many people choose the lowest price and are disappointed at the results. You should know that “The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of the good deal is forgotten.”
