I join the ranks of all who have wonderous things to say about Nehemiah General Contractors. However, I would like to mention one aspect that has not been fully enunciated in other recommendations—project management and cost containment.

The project manager and supervisor was Andy Elkins. Based on the original estimate, Andy reduced the estimated cost of the project but not its scope by 20%. From this final estimate (it is time and materials, not fixed bid), he kept finding ways to speed up the project, keeping subcontractors on a short leash, streamlining and minimizing downtime, and finding things to shorten the work. Also, things were not as bad as originally thought (honesty!!). We interacted daily. This project was not simple and could have gotten out of hand. Specifically, there was scaffolding around the house (multi story), contract roofers, in-house carpenters, bricklayers, and contract painters all working 30’ in the air as they moved around the house.

When all work was completed, our final cost was 17% less than our operating estimate. Thank you, Andy.

As an aside, with a lifelong friend who was the builder, I designed the house and held all liability as if I was the general contractor, so I have a decent idea of construction costs.

Our project was a complete main floor remodel, combining a former dining room into a large open kitchen, dining, and living room with a large walk-in pantry. Nehemiah brought in an architect to work with us on the design details. We completely changed the style of the remodeled floor, adding beamed ceilings in several rooms and high-end cabinetry throughout. Nehemiah's team was outstanding and so were the many subcontractors they employed. We trusted their team to manage our project while we were living out of state the entire duration of the project. We kept in touch via Zoom meetings, regular phone and email discussions, and several visits at key decision points. Overall, the final cost was under the original budget estimate.
The quality of a contractor is determined by their people, the subcontractors they assemble, and how they handle any problems that may arise. Our 8 1/2-month project is everything we hoped it would be. Nehemiah handled warranty items professionally when they arose. We are happy to recommend Nick's team to others considering work such as ours.

They did an incredible job on our whole house remodel. Very professional and their work is impeccable. If you need a contractor who you can trust and can get the job done this is the company to call. Being a realtor, I have heard too many nightmare stories about other contractors and I'm so glad I found them.

My husband and I unequivocally recommend this company. They guided us through an 8 month renovation, always responding professionally and sympathetically to our concerns and questions. They communicated effectively and frequently regarding costs and scheduling. Most importantly, when they said something would happen, it did. No surprises, no disappointments. The quality of their work is superb. We love our "new" home!

I have been associated with NGC for several years now. At first, I knew of the company and the owner from social circles and would hear about the character and quality of the owner from people who had done business with him. Soon, I was able to begin working with NGC as a contractor, getting behind the scenes. NGC is a referral based company, built on 8 years of growing relationships and proven results. This speaks volumes. You can't be a referral based company, and not do the right thing for your customers as a way of life and expect to stay in business. I came to work full time for NGC this last year, because I believe in the vision, and value of what this company has to offer. Coming alongside NGC for several years now, I see this company helping clients bring their dreams into reality, while helping them to feel smart about their buying decision to use us. Not every project is a fit, but I have seen NGC go above and beyond to honor the dream and the reality of what our clients are hoping to achieve. As a result, they tell their friends and in many instances they call us back for the next level of their dream home/space. NGC cares about the future of our clients, partners and employees. I would not have invested to be part of this journey, if the writing on the wall were anything less than exceptional.
