For years we have had water in our basement, and after two entire months with water - and having to manually plug in sump pumps day and night so the water didn't rise high enough to damage the furnace - we decided to have our basement waterproofed. The company I settled on was Connecticut Basement Systems, and I must say it's probably the best company of ANY type we've ever come across.

They sent us their sales literature, and not only is it gorgeously produced, but even better and more importantly, it actually tells what's causing the water problem, how CBS can alleviate problems, and what products they use to do so. I love that they have fixed prices, so there's no haggling and you know what you're getting. Transparent and clear information, and estimates and drawings were sent fast after our first meeting, and very clearly shown and explained.

I have to single out Jimmy Stablein, our sales rep, who knew things backwards and forward, never tried to hard sell us, got all the paperwork done in no time flat, and followed through AFTER the job was done as well as leading up. There was a tiny hole in an underground pipe that needed replacing, so I called Jimmy and sent him pictures of water outside where it shouldn't have been...and within literally 15 minutes we got a call and an appointment was set for assessment and repair. That happened today, and I once again tested the system and the leak is fixed.

Every person at this company showed amazing competence, respect, kindness, and dedication to getting the job done right. I cannot thank Connecticut Basement Systems enough...and again, I thank Jimmy for being there from start to finish.

If you need basement waterproofing, Connecticut Basement Systems is an incredible company and you will be more pleased than you can imagine.

(and for the first time in my life, I'm hoping for rain because I really want to see this system performing in all its glory!)

The three man crew arrived right on time and immediately scoped out the project, gathering all the layers of material needed, and got to work. They were diligent despite the heat and humidity that we were experiencing. They took great care with our basement as they worked to seal the two crawl spaces. They had us check on their progress each step of the way. Their work was excellent. They cleaned up their work area, swept and vacuumed the area, and removed any trash. We highly recommend this company and their workers.

I recently had a sump pump inspection and service performed at my home by Connecticut Basement Systems, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. Scheduling the appointment was incredibly easy, and the woman I spoke to on the phone was very responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. As a new homeowner, I was unfamiliar with sump pump systems, but the technician, John Landry, made the entire experience seamless and informative.

John was very punctual, which I greatly appreciated. He was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable, taking the time to educate me about the system and how it works. He explained what needed to be replaced and why, ensuring I understood the necessity of the new replacement pumps. John also took the time to walk outside and observe the discharge area, ensuring that it was up to standard. He even performed thorough tests with me to validate that everything was working perfectly.

I was particularly impressed with John's honesty and fairness in his assessment. I felt confident that he had my best interests in mind and was providing a trustworthy evaluation. The service work performed was excellent, and John left the area just as he found it, maintaining a clean and tidy workspace.

Overall, I am extremely confident in the reliability of my sump pump system and grateful for the outstanding service provided by John Landry and Connecticut Basement Systems. I highly recommend their services to anyone in need of sump pump maintenance or repair.

I love this company. They have superior customer service. I initially got a quote that was too expensive for me and went with another company my insurance covered. That company incorrectly diagnosed and made more problems. I got so much good feedback from CT Basement Systems that I decided to circle back to them and bite the bullet. They had a billing department that worked with me to pay the balance. They completed the job and at first it was insufficient to handle all the water. They didn’t hesitate to come correct the issue and ensure I was happy. Fingers crossed but I have not flooded since they installed their final system. I recently had annual service and the guy was so professional and went above and beyond. I had annual service scheduled but there was a big storm a few days prior and I felt my pump was running for too long. I called and they sent a technician same day. That technician went above and beyond to perform the annual service that day so I wouldn’t have to pay twice and everything would be clean and handled/ fixed that day. He also took detailed pictures and cleaned the pumps well and my garage smelled so good afterwards. They are always willing to help and are nice and respectful to customers.

Materials and workmanship were okay, but scheduling was atrocious. The problems began on the day demolition was supposed to occur. By early afternoon with no contact from anyone I started sending emails asking where the blankity blank was everyone. By 3pm I got an apologetic call which indicated our project had dropped through the cracks ..... in inauspicious beginning to say the least. I'd think Bruce Reynolds – Project Manager should probably take the hit on that error unless he is completely independent of scheduling.

That was Thursday. Friday the demolition team shows up and took everything apart that needed it. Monday the waterproofing team showed up and they jack hammered the floor trench, installed the triple safety sump pumps and discharge pipes. In installing the pump discharges they drilled holes through a wooden shelf on top of the foundation wall. As it turned out, the holes were 0.5 inches too close to the wall to allow the new wall material behind the pipes that ran through the holes. Mr Garfield should take responsibility for that error. Ultimately the fix for this issue was to build a box over the sump and plumbing and completely hiding the wall that couldn't be fitted with the new wall material. It probably looks better with all the plumbing hidden than it would have with new walling behind the plumbing and all those piping connections visible. Bruce Reynolds and Shondee Blake get Kudos for that solution.

The wall and flooring got installed during the rest of the week. A ugly and amateurish access way to the water tank and main cutoff valve was replaced with a simple 8" access panel for the valve and a new door on the far side of the space under the stairs for plumbing access. Shondee Blake the carpenter and Bruce Reynolds game up with a good plan that Blake did a first class job of following.

Another area that was less than straight forward was the wall containing the fireplace and pellet stove clean outs. Blake did an excellent job installing 14" access panels and installing insulation around the access ways.

Then Memorial day weekend hit and the crew was pulled to work on a big job in a nearby town. The two plus weeks we had no activity we couldn't help but think of that lost day that began this project as it was a day worth of work that was left to do. Who was responsible for scheduling?

Blake eventually came back to finish up, but at the very end got ambushed by tiles that had been cut short and could not have a threshold strip attached (minimizing the tripping hazzard). Another few days before eventually the job was completed.

I like the look of the work that was done and it surely is a vast improvement over what we had before, but the time to completion ended up being excessive.

They just finished installing a full perimeter drainage system with a sump pump. The system is simple, but seems awesome. The crew was friendly, worked fast, diligent, and hard. The lead put up with all my questions and wanting to watch the process out of curiosity. They cleaned up after themselves and took several precautions to protect our house and lawn from their work. Based on this experience, I would highly recommend this company!!

From the beginning to the end the experience wasn’t at all stressful! The job was executed exactly according to Don’s electronic plan of our basement - disappointingly, though , our town required a building permit which delayed the work project by 4 months - and on top of that the rainy fall was resulting in more basements flooding!
All in all - a great experience - the team left my basement in great condition - they were respectful of our property inside and out . Our sump pump system was tested 2 days later with heavy rain and passed with flying colors ! Thank you Larry and your dedicated staff onsite and off .

The spring and summer rain this year in Connecticut was problematic for my basement as on moderate rain storms, water would routinely run down the stairs of my bulkhead and through the seal at the base of my basement door. This would cause large puddles to form in my basement which required hours of cleanup with a wet vac and mop. I hired Connecticut Basement Systems to come in and fix my problem forever. I saw their video on YouTube and that’s how I found them. I made an appointment for a consultation and then a couple of week later I had my project scheduled. They installed a floor drain into a sump pump system with triple redundancy (three separate pumps on different power circuits, one is a battery backup) and while they were here I added an engineered dehumidifier that drains into the sump pump basin. This system is engineered for performance. The workmanship is great. They showed up on time, worked efficiently, and cleaned up the whole area when they finished.

This job is also done in two parts, the drainage system installation and the electrical which is scheduled for completion after the first of the new year. So my current installation is up and running on temporary power (I.e., extension cord that powers two pumps). the permanent installation will involve hard wiring to the electrical box. Obviously the battery backup powered pump is up and running. I would recommend this company if you want to solve this problem once and for all. #ConnecticutBasementSystems
