We met Peter before purchasing the home last October and discussed the possibility of having the terrazzo restored. Peter understandably couldn’t give an accurate idea of the scope of work until the existing flooring was removed and the terrazzo was exposed, giving him a better idea of if restoration was possible and to what level. After we purchased the home we removed all the flooring and invited him back for another look and quoting. Peter expressed little concerns with the job and said the floors would look beautiful after he was done. There was carpet tac patching that had to be done but Peter assured us of his skills in filling those holes and getting them close to the floor color and style. We paid our deposit for work and got extremely excited about the idea of having beautiful terrazzo floors. There was a substantial amount of furniture that needed to be moved off the terrazzo as we also paid Peter to have our Florida room and garage floors painted with what he said was a extremely strong floor coating. Logistically there needed to be good communication between us and Peter to be able to shuffle furniture and belongings throughout the house during different phases of the project. During construction getting straight answers and timelines was difficult and communicating became rather frustrating. It’s taken me several months to sit down and write this post because of the amount downright disappointment and sadness we have around the finished product. Peter claimed to be experienced and skilled in Terrazzo restoration but his finished product was anything but “beautiful”. I continue to find missed patchwork, rough spots and unfinished surfaces. Peter should have never told us this restoration was possible if he knew the final outcome would look like it does. If this project was beyond his skill set, he should have communicated that, and if he did have the skill then he simply did not take the time to execute on this job appropriately. The “extremely strong” floor coating we had done in the garage and Florida room is already chipping and scratching and is not as advertised. At the end of the day we paid Peter $11,000 and feel not only taken advantage of but also deceived. We called him and expressed our concerns and he has never called back or tried to make it right. By no means are we terrazzo experts but we trusted Peter was. Sadly, our only options from here are to pay even more money to eventually have everything covered with new flooring, an option we had spoken directly with Peter about if he had told us the floors were beyond repair. Again, he promised a “beautiful” terrazzo restoration and we trusted that.
