The technician came out to replace a bad disconnect box for our pool heater. The box retails for $21 at Lowes and Home Depot. They tried to charge me $618 for 20 minutes of work. I contacted my pool service technician and he came out and installed it with cost of box a total of $50. They are unfortunately another Florida contractor taking advantage of people's ignorance of real costs.

We had a new pool heater installed as old one was not able to keep pool temperature regulated as it was 12 years old. The installation company diagnosed that the disconnect box was bad but did not have the part. They suggested we call an electrician to get it done quickly. I explained this to the Hoffman technician when he arrived he comfirmed by checking his volt meter just as the installation company did. Your technician explained to me that the wires were the exact size we need for the heater as it's brand new. He was at our house for less than an hour. He specifically stated that we don't need to run new wiring and we just have a bad disconnect box. I asked how much Hoffman was charging for the box since I had a replacement on order for $20.21 at Lowes. He explained that the costs are company specific and the work is guaranteed. I explained that I'm not willing to pay over $600 for a $20 part. He said he could knock $100 off but that's it. I told him I'd be willing to pay $200 to have it done now instead of waiting. He explained that he would be fired if he did that and stated that it's company policy to charge the $49 service call and $322 diagnostic charge. Labor for work is $247 totaling $618. I declined the work and your technician turned around and left without saying anything else. I was told the service fee would be waived when setting the appointment as we were new customers. I even received an invoice for $0 which I have saved to prove no work was done and nothing was asked of me after the technician left. My entire experience post 1st call was nothing more than another contractor extorting people in Florida. I take full responsibility for my ignorance before calling for such a simple repair.

Wow. Jason came in today and went above and beyond. He took his time and was a perfectionist. I was actually thinking I needed to have patch work done on my drywall when he was finished but he was so good I can’t even tell there was work done. ??I am super pleased. I literally had to force him to stop cleaning up. I will be a loyal Hoffman customer for any electrical AND ac needs. Thanks a bunch Jason. Everything is perfect and I know longer have to look at cords hanging from my TVs.? Totally love my new ceiling fans as well!! ??

Collin came out to service a light that would not come on immediately and/or stay on. He was thorough working through the process. Checked the voltage at the switch and at the light fixture. Turned out it was a bad light fixture. Collin waited for me to run out and buy a new light My Wife would like. Collin took all the plastic off the new light, wiped off any finger prints and used a vacuum to clean up any debris that was left. Excellent job. Reasonable price. I'm very happy with the work that was done.

Overall

We used Hoffman Electrical in the past and today and had great experiences both times. Osmany and Jose came out today to add a new electrical outlet, ceiling junction box, assembled and hung nine light fixtures and two fans. They were knowledgable, kind, professional and helpful. We're super happy with the way everything went and would recommend without hesitation. We'll definitely use Hoffman Electrical for our future needs.
