DSA designed a custom home in Tampa for me and worked with me through the building process that recently finished in May of 2022. Overall, I am very pleased with the end result of the design process, including the ultimate layout, placement of windows, and quality of communication throughout the process. DSA also recommended the builder that I eventually ended up using, who did a very good job constructing the house. They also caught some issues during the building process and made sure the builder addressed them, which was very helpful as they were things I wouldn't have seen from my non-professional review of the plans.
However, there were a few things along the way that reduce my rating of DSA's services. Although there were some changes during the design process, it took considerably longer than the originally outlined schedule (outlined: about 4 months, actual: about 8 months). One of the hang ups we encountered was the placement of the house relative to trees. The City of Tampa's code with respect to trees changed during the design process, but this wasn't caught by DSA. A 15' protective radius for a grand tree became a 20' protective radius, and this meant removing that tree rather than locating the house a few feet over into the side setback and getting a design exception from the city. This required a new arborist's report, changes to the plans submitted for permitting, an additional delay to the start of the build, and tree removal. I had done my best due diligence on the tree rules, but did not catch the change in tree code, which should have been DSA's responsibility. To be fair, we did talk about the tree code at the beginning of the design process, the code had changed recently, and this change happened during the design process making it harder to catch. Finally, during the design process, I caught some inconsistencies in measurements and placement of design elements within the plans and brought this to the attention of the architects. Some of these were things that should have been caught by the quality control process. Most of these were not a huge deal, but one did lead to the builder ordering an 8' tall sliding door instead of a 6'8" sliding door since there was an inconsistency in the floor plan vs. elevation in an early set of the plans he used as the basis for ordering materials
- the inconsistency was resolved in subsequent sets of plans, but the door height should have been the same in all versions.
Overall, I would strongly recommend using DSA for your architectural design needs.

My organization has relied on DSA to assist us with the completion of two major interior renovation projects, as well as, one smaller consulting contract. Regardless of the size of the project, we have always found DSA to be attentive and responsive to our requests for assistance. DSA has been a trusted partner and go-to for knowledge and expertise, and has guided us from the design phase through completion of our projects with excellence. It has been my experience that DSA provides outstanding support to their clients and I would recommend them to any agency seeking architectural services.

I wish I can say the same that DSA is responsive and professional and great at what they do. However, this has not been my experience on the current project that they helped design.
Failure to overlay their architectural plans with the structural engineering drawings had resulted in multiple areas of issues during construction that cost me $$$ from the construction standpoint. When brought to their attention, they cite "unforeseen circumstances that will always come from building a custom home". And yet had they look at both drawings closely they could see what is affected and make those changes before construction is done. Of course, they feel they are not responsible for the construction cost to fix those mistakes. For a client who has paid 100k plus to DSA you would think they would manage their mistakes better.
It took some angry emails and phone calls for them to admit their lack of communication and the promise to do better. So far, I have not seen this delivered and the project is still ongoing.
Hindsight is 20/20 and I would not use DSA again nor would I recommend them to anyone who's looking to build.

We bought our beach house in 2015. We took the house down to the studs and completely rebuilt on the inside (phase 1) in 2017 and then did the same on the exterior (phase 2) in 2020. We engaged DSA for the phase 2 exterior rebuild and our they worked with us and the General Contractor every step of the way and the result was an outstanding masterpiece which is our dream house. You can see the exterior pics below. They were involved in every aspect of the exterior renovation even the detailed furniture selections, colors, materials, etc.
We wish we would have had DSA with us on phase 1 when we did the interior, but we hadn't yet found them...so we struggled and spent lots of our own time with the interior design as or GC was not equipped to handle that aspect. However, during our complete exterior renovation in 2020, the work required us to vacate the house so went back inside for some additional upgrades & modifications and DSA played an integral part of that process too, assisting us and the GC with living room, master bedroom, master bath, etc
DSA is very professional and talented and we highly recommend them to be involved with your project from beginning to end.

DSA designed our office/warehouse. They have exceeded all expectations and produced a beautiful functional space that we'll be happy with for the foreseeable future.
