BUYER BEWARE!! POOR WORKMANSHIP!!
Investing in a home built with durable materials ensures that it stands the test of time and provides a safe and comfortable environment for its occupants. It's heartbreaking when dreams of a stable home are dashed due to poor construction choices. We became the second owners of a house in NW Ankeny after an extensive search. Less than a year ago, we found and purchased this four-year-old home. Our instructor noticed some issues, like loose siding, plumbing installation, no insulation in the attic etc..during the inspection. But we thought every house has some sort of issues… If the siding gets fixed then the other two we can manage. We asked the previous owner to fix the loose siding before we bought it, and they had someone nail it down. Now, those boards (and more boards) are coming loose again and flapping loudly in the wind. Our neighbors have even commented on how bad it is during windy weather. We've had three siding contractors inspect it independently, and all of them criticized the poor quality of the original installation. We've tried contacting the original installer (JD Construction), but they haven't returned our calls. Each contractor has expressed embarrassment that Kimberley’s work could deteriorate so quickly after just four years.

We used to believe that D R HORTON homes used cheap materials, but a friend who bought one 6 years ago is very satisfied and hasn't had any issues. My partner and I are incredibly stressed. We spent a lot on this house and we want a long term solution and it looks like other than re-doing the whole siding , nailing isnt enough to prevent it from falling apart. It's been an extremely disappointing experience.

I felt it necessary to post a poor review for Kimberley Dev Corp based on our negative experience as we approach 11 mo in our new home. Kimberly lists on their website that they provide “unbeatable support”, be warned as very experienced home buyers with over 7 new homes purchased that Kimberley stands alone as the least responsive and hardest to deal with support team that my wife and I have ever worked with. Lisa, Rylee, and Jill do a fine job during the home buying process and I want to make sure my comments aren’t aimed at the entire Kimberley team. If you like the idea of living in an unfinished home with missing cabinetry, exposed rebar, unfinished transitions, and cracked pipes, all of which are captured in the Pre-Close Walk-Through documentation then go ahead and work with Kimberley. We also understand that some quality issues arise during a new home buying experience but I can share a long list of major issues - tile flooring coming lose and needing to be torn down to the subfloor, water leaking though the smoke alarms in attic crawl space, not setting toilets properly leading to messy clean ups they didn’t help with, etc. The answer is the same, they point their finger at the sub-contractor and tell me they aren’t working with them any longer. How about putting some pride in the homes you build and ensure the work is being done correctly? It would be refreshing for someone to apologize (not once) and take ownership, that is not the way Kimberley homes operates. Please reach out if you would like to talk further, I’m happy to share with anyone. Also as a side note our home is shown in the Mar/Apr DSM magazine, you think they would show an example of a completed home or from a happy buyer…

My wife and I had a great experience with Kimberley Development. In September 2022 we purchased a 7-year old Kimberley-built home in Ankeny. After moving in, there were a few changes and updates we wanted to make to the house. We contacted Kimberley and were introduced to Tom Monson. We discussed the updates and design elements we wanted completed, and Tom was great. He guided us and offered suggestions from experiences he had completing jobs for other customers. After the costs were agreed to, Tom handed our project off to Matt Bruce. Matt managed our project to completion with top-notch care, communication, and quality. He managed the project timeline and lined-up the sub-contractors perfectly. The subs that completed the work were all excellent, as well. They took pride in their work and produced quality results. It was obvious they all liked working on Kimberley jobs. I would highly recommend Kimberley Development for any residential construction or remodeling work. They have a quality, caring staff and their work, communication, and integrity are second-to-none.

My wife and I had an amazing experience with Kimberley. We moved into our home in July and had shovels in the dirt by August building our outdoor patio/kitchen/fire pit, 16x20 shed, custom closet modifications and various trim work.

Tom Monson and Matt Bruce did a wonderful job communicating throughout the project and were such a pleasure to work with. Definitely one of those instances where their customer-focused mindset shined from the minute project plans were laid out in front of us. Will definitely be using their services for future endeavors!
